So, I have been informed that today marks the exact ten year anniversary of the airing of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Boy, what a fucking ride.

If you'd told me way back in 2010 my roommate busting in and flipping out over My Little Pony, and his new favorite character, Pinkie Pie was going to lead me down a ten year journey that would cement some of the best friendships I'd ever had and make hosts of new ones - I wouldn't believe it. That thousands of people would read my stories, and hundreds would praise them. That I'd be giving talks on literary theory and history in front of dozens if not hundreds of people - and they'd listen.

I... I have not had a good life. I'm not sure many of us have. I don't have the highest of hopes for the future, either... but this show and this community have given me some of the greatest joys and taught me some of the most valuable lessons. Even here, even now, when hope seems to be in short supply, I'll be here, with you all, and in ten years time, if you all will be around then I will be too. The only thing that can stop me is death, and I only give that a little better than even odds.

You all have made me so happy, and so proud, and so humble. You have filled the hours with wonderful stories, and listened to me and mine. You have been great friends, great story tellers, and great teachers.

So, thank you for the best parts of the last ten years of my life. Continue to be excellent to one another, and... here's to ten more, end of the world be damned.
