Life Attacks from the Shadows!

So! I've a friend. Well, I call them a friend. I've never actually met them. Probably for the best. So, "a friend" because "a hapless soul I've inflicted my attentions on" doesn't sound as nice or roll off the tongue as easily. Anyways, I generally drop them a note later in the evening asking what they've done that day in hopes of encouraging them to look after themselves. But that's a different story for a different pony to decide if they want to tell. But that I have this hapless soul friend whom I regularly accost talk to is part of my day.

So, yesterday I got sent home from work early and told to take a four day weekend. Woo! I'd be upset at the lost time two weeks in a row, but my bi-weekly paychecks line up to have three next month. I'm promptly set upon by my fiancee for cuddle time since our schedules generally dictate that we are either asleep or away when the other person is home and awake. This, of course is acceptable.

But it means I missed my daily accosting of some hapless soul. That, too, is understandable. It happens. I'll just send a note tomorrow morning before heading to the wrecking yard with a friend to pull some parts for my daughters pickup.

I'm woken up by my daughter who has just learned that she's been in close contact with a person who tested positive for Covid. So trip to the wrecking yard is put on hold. Grocery shopping is put on hold. Time to go get tested. We have rapid tests now that give results in as little as half an hour. Right? RIGHT?!? Nope. Every last place that offers them are booked solid through Monday and, even if they weren't, completely out of rapid tests. We spent from 9am until almost 4 hunting around. We ended up finding a drive-thru place that was available and will get the results back in 3-5 days. And all my plans for the day are now dead.

In the mean time, I also get to say "Haha! Nope!" to everything I was planning this weekend that required me to interact with anybody other than those living in my house. At least it's a four day weekend so I might not miss any work, but boss has been notified just in case. Convincing my daughter that, yes, this is in fact reason to stop her from going anywhere or seeing anybody was another matter...

On the plus side, one of the few people I watch stream art is online *right now*. So I got that going for me which is nice.

For the rest of the weekend, I have to replace the front suspension on my fiancee's pickup. I've got all the parts, just need to get it up on jack stands and break out the wrenches. If all goes well, I'll have the negative test result back before it's time to go get it all aligned.
