The future of Changing Expectations · 9:47pm Feb 7th, 2021

There's been some confusion, especially for readers who haven't been following the story since the first two arcs. Changing Expectations is less than halfway done, not considering the different possible lengths of the arcs. Basically, we are on #4 out of ~11 or so. There is also room for sequels. In fact, I think I've figured out the broad strokes of the first sequel (don't know if there will be more than one sequel, that's far in the future).

So Chapter 53 will conclude Arc #4, but not the story.

Now that that matter is cleared up, I am announcing a short break I will be taking after this arc is finished. I don't know how long it will be, maybe two to three weeks. During this, I want to take the time to maybe plan out the next few arcs more, as well as get the first chapter out for the sidestory I hinted at a while ago. I totally will not procrastinate during this, leaving everything for the last day. Totally.

After that, Changing Expectations will pick up with Arc #5.

interesting i thought we were at the finale, really though depend what happens with chrysalis, you might want to break up your story into smaller fics and have the next arc as a sequel fic, some people get put of from long story's

I considered doing that, but decided not to for a few reasons;
1. I don't have cover art for a sequel
2. We are still in what I considered to be the beginning of the story, not even reaching the point where I started writing the story from
3. If people see the fic is finished, it might discourage them from continuing, instead jumping to conclusions I don't want them to.

fair enough, it just so far all the major plot points have been leading to the invasion so it expected people are confused where not at the final of the story, but still it your story and it up to you, i keep enjoying the ride as long as it goes on

A three week hiatus? Hm, I can wait that long. Really looking forward to whatever you have planned! :pinkiehappy:

Appreciate the update, Slider.

Its been awesome so far, hope you enjoy your holiday

You know, I think you have what it takes to become a recognized named author. Like, there's a lot of fimfiction here, and a lot of it is good.

But you. This is not only some of ome of the best stories I've read on the site, not only on my top 5, but I feel like if there weren't any mlp properties in this story, you could get serious name recognition from it.

Obviously I'm not going to tell you what to do with your life but I genuinely believe you can go far as an author if you weren't already considering that as a profession

Tl;dr Engoy your break and I love your work

Wow, I'm glad to be thought so highly of. In truth, I hadn't considered it a career path until very recently. Maybe I'll write a book in the future and have it published, but I've got a lot on my plate right now.

Thank you for believing in me so much, I shall continue this passion of mine

The story is FANTASTIC! It always makes me smile hugely when I see an update. I have a long story series, but you are a batter writer than I. So PLEASE continue.

Hey KK, I was wondering, do you have anything special planned for if you hit 1,500 or 2,000 likes? Maybe we could see some deleted content or something, just a thought.

Glad you're taking a break. I was concerned the breakneck pace didn't allow you much thought for the future.

Hmmm. As far as deleted content goes, the most I have for that is showing my outline for the completed arcs. It's color coded, white black being unreached, blue being in progress, green being done, and red being cancelled.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. You can all see just how little I was going off of in the beginning lmao

Take all the time you need Slider you can't rush perfection, hell I feel better knowing you are taking this time to thoroughly plan things out.

Keep up the great work.

I’ll admit that I thought the end was very near. Though that’s more through conditioning from other reads and the sudden change of plans in the story. I am very happy however, to know that I have needlessly underestimated you, and that the story as a whole has a long and complex future ahead. Something of this caliber could never overstay its welcome.

I knew it wouldn't end with the invasion. That's too early, there's too much left undone. Too many questions unanswered. Plus, Phasma's character isn't fully figured out yet. I mean, he's a human-turned-changeling-prince, but there's not much shown of his human side, and he's been all about machinations lately.

So I'm happy to know the story will continue for a good long while.

Uhh, that's quite an ambition you got there. More power to ya.

Who on earth just opens a book on a random page and starts reading and expects to know what's happening?

I know well about burn out, and I've seen it happen to other authors. Take all the time you need, we'll be waiting for when you're recharged.

I find this annoying that I will have to wait but by all means I will! I do hope you enjoy your time off and come back feeling refreshed and ready to wow us all. The last thing any of us want it for you to burn yourself out and lose the creative spark for writing at the vary lest I know not to be checking day by day for the next chapter and can now look to other works. So we wait with baited breath
