GOOD AFTERNOON, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker and Occasional Singer keeping you up to date with the latest news for the Generation 5 movie and beyond! I was just scrolling online during my lunch break, when I happened to stumble upon this latest news in light of the upcoming G5 movie. As part of the latest trend in light of the merchandising surrounding the upcoming feature, it would not be merchandising if we hadn't have plush toys centered on a cast we have yet to see on the big screen. Straight from the Chinese Taobao website (Please keep your language to yourself), we not only can confirm all the toys centered on the three characters as well as a fourth character who will be introduced in this movie: Zipp Storm!

Now some of you might be asking: 'Dramamaster, who is this Zipp Storm that everyone is suddenly talking about?'. Well, if I can be direct and blunt to all the people reading this blog up to this point... I have no freaking clue. But I have good reason why. Apparently the most I can find surrounding this pony is that apparently the Pegasus is supposed to be kind of like Rainbow Dash. And yet those choice of words alone are very subject, we all know what kind of pony Rainbow Dash is. She is the type of pony who can never abandon her friends for her heart's desire and that loyalty trait of hers is what makes her so 'awesome'...
But at the same time we also know has a tendency of being slightly self-absorbed, ultra competitive, and a bit irresponsible too...
So with that in mind... who knows what G5 will do when it comes to Zipp? I have nothing against having a creator based on a pony who was popular in one generation. Fan creators do this ALL THE TIME when it comes to all the OCs they put together over the years. But, at the same time, I find it is also important that the character should have a means to stand out on their own. In the case of this Zipp character, even if she cannot possibly prove to be a better pony than Rainbow Dash (Much less the fastest flier), what we 'can' hope for is that her personality is so relatable and so engaging for the fans that we won't have to worry about whether this pony stands alone or is merely a rip-off (I'm hoping for the former).
In any case, we can see that these plush toys confirm that at some point the ponies will receive their cutie marks whether they've always had them in the movie or gain them near the feature's climax.

They say you can pretty much tell a pony's special talent based on the cutie mark imprinted upon their flanks, though what their talents may be remain to be determined until we get to see the ponies in action. Although given their personalities we have the slightest idea about as indicated with the latest film news, I can already tell that fans will be greatly debating as to what their cutie marks mean and what they represent as their talents (If 'any' to discuss later on). Definitely more questions than answers as of this point, but if we know our fans very well, they'll already be spending all their money on the next big fad when it comes to anything pony related and I know my share of folk who would...
Pretty, pretty. Shiny, shiny...
Overall, things are looking promising for a movie that hasn't even had an official teaser or much less a trailer set to be on display for our fans. Until we do receive word involving feature animations worth going over, so much is in full display in terms of the merchandising. Pillows, action figures, toy castles, plushies, you name it and no doubt they are working on it now. Some say that this feature is really just another attempt on Hasbro's part to promote their new toy line, but if we truly visualize the art of where all this going we can safely assure that there is something to look forward to with this feature. More news soon to come in light of what still remains to be unveiled before a fandom waiting to see what's still to come.

It's possible that they could be related given how their names seem to match. If Pipp is supposed to be the perky princess who loves performing for her public, it is possible that Zipp is more likely the rebellious sister who prefers zooming around the landscape. I mean it seems pretty coincidental that the pair's names are so similar in rhyme scheme.

huh could zipp be related to rainbow dash i wonder? like her character arc in the show could be trying to follow in rainbows hoofsteps . Like her family could be famous each of them being top notch flyers guards racers things like that but zipp cant seem to be able to do feats like the rest of her family making her feel ostracised and bullied by her possible brothers and sisters and always fall up short so she has to find an inner power (self confidence) or getting them to accept the fact shes her own pony and she'll never be as good as her families legacy and she and her family will have to accept her for who she is and not what they expect or demand who she should be

It's 'possible'... if not 'probable', but if only so long as I can somehow fit this with my 'other' theory centered on Zipp (Specifically a possible familial relationship with Pipp). Suppose Zipp does come from a long line of famous, top notch fliers (Guards, racers, whatever). But the only way to separate Zipp from some pony like Rainbow Dash is her slight inability to do the things the rest of her family are able to do and thus she feels like an outcast her in own home. That perhaps, she only agrees to go along with Sunny and her own band of misfits as a means of finding herself and discover that just because she's part of a family's legacy does not mean she cannot be her own Pegasus, much less her own pony.
Let's just hope her character is memorable at best and likeable.

The plushies are sure to be rather popular amongst fans if it draws enough interest in fans buying them. If not enough of the money goes into supporting the release of the movie, the best chance they have is if there's more than enough mane in all the merchandising sales.
As a side note, I never explicitly said 'Rainbow Dash' was completely involved. Only going by this theory that there is a slight comparison between that of Zipp and Dash in terms of personality.

Yeah I can see why that would be such an easy mistake to make. Actually, that was a scene from the 'Rainbow Roadtrip' movie in which the ponies went to this town completely devoid of color (Even it's inhabitants). Not one of the best specials I've seen in FIM, there was barely anything at stake. But it had memorable characters (Kerfuffle being my favorite) and the fact they deployed the same animation from the movie is somewhat special.
