Fic Illustrations, Open for Scene Suggestion

Hey, long time no post! Okay, maybe not that long, but it has been a few months since I've posted anything. I don't really have an excuse for that, I just sorta... Stopped writing? The next Shadow of a Doubt chapter's been nearly done for months, though the chapter after that has been a bit difficult to plan out.

    Oof.

Anyway! Onto the topic of the blog title!

You can now read Made With Love in Russian!

Thanks to KolyanGOLD, for the first time ever, one of my stories has been translated for the first time! I'm not actually sure how many people who follow me will read it in Russian, but seeing as it's the first time one of my stories has been translated, it's a neat little accomplishment.

Story updates, + some other non-story stuff

First of all, if you haven't seen yet, look what updated for the first time in a year! New cover art and everything, I'd never been too big of a fan of the old art, it was never my best... Though I forgot to leave room for the title, oops. I'll figure that out eventually. It's also blurry, for some reason. The art is not like that when clicked on or sourced, however.

Would anyone be interested if I offered writing commissions

It's never been a thing I'd considered too much, I've always considered writing harder than art, but the last blog wasn't actually the end of my money troubles... I'm not desperate for money, I have food and a place to live, but I am jobless and would like to have some money saved for emergencies. There's been a lot of those lately. All pets are fine though! Just... Anxious now, after

I don't really have a title for this

So if anyone remembers, back in February my cats all caught colds, and I was particularly worried about one of them, Reeses. Thankfully, they all recovered, but I still really needed to take Reeses to the vet because I was worried about her.

Everything's out to get me for my writing I guess · 9:06pm Apr 14th, 2021

Having an issue with Google Drive, which is where I write all my stories. Probably a stupid choice of a writing program but when my only other choice is an automatic word pad that's just not at all pleasing to look at or write on, I'm going with what I've got. Anyway, last night I opened my document, and it was basically uneditable.

EDIT: Sometimes the solution is the simplest thing.

Chapter 16 of Shadow of a Doubt for example:

Each line is a single paragraph, uncopiable, which means I can't transfer my wips to another program. When I do type, it only types after the first word of each paragraph, and the cursor won't move from there. This applies to every Google Doc I open, even if they're not my own. Resetting my computer, logging in and out of Google, and deleting my data and history didn't help.

Interestingly enough, other people accessing my docs see them as they're supposed to be, and they're perfectly fine if I try to use them incognito or from another browser, Microsoft Edge in this case. So, good news is I can still write, but not in a way that I'd prefer.

But yeah I have no idea how to fix this, and no idea what's causing it. Google Docs was apparently down recently, and I thought that was to blame, but I'm not sure if that makes sense considering it still works incognito? Also thought I'd accidentally turned on some weird setting I didn't know about, but that seems unlikely too. Whatever the case, it's annoying and inconvenient, and probably a sign I need to find a new writing program. Bet my friend who told me off on using Google is feeling pretty good about now.

Originally was going to end this blog asking if anyone had any ideas on how to fix this, but I think I'll just have to hope it resolves itself at this point. I am open to suggestions for other writing programs though, preferably free ones. I'm a creature of habit who hates change but this issue is too much.

On another note, my art tablet cord snapped a couple of days ago. Only had to go out and buy a new cord for that, but everything really wants to go wrong for my hobbies apparently. At least it's just been more annoying than inconvenient in this case.

Nothing will stop me from writing and drawing the best boy.

Hey Mayhem!! I had the same issue-- it's an incompatibility with whatever adblocker you're using. Whitelist google docs and it should work again!

Y'know, I'd gone through all my extensions and checked if any of them were to blame but I didn't once turn off my adblocker, probably because it's the last thing I expected to effect Google Docs at all.

But yeah, that was the answer. A day of doing so much to try and figure it out, and it was the adblocker.

Thank you! Now I can write without struggle again!

Glad I could help! Happy writing!

I might be the slightest bit disappointed in myself for not even trying that one.

At times like this, I'm glad I switched to Microsoft Word. :derpytongue2: Try OpenOffice if you get sick of Google Drive. As far as free writing programs went though, that was my go-to for many years and I never had any really bad problems with it. Either way, it's good to see you still intent on writing! Best boy knows you won't let him down!

Thankfully the Drive issue was quickly figured out once I posted this here, none of my friends could help me figure out what was wrong but the moment I made a blog post? Answer found, oops I didn't try that.

Microsoft Word would be nice, but it's expensive if you're not lucky enough to have it and I am not spending over $100 on a writing program when there's plenty of free alternatives. So I'll probably be sticking to Drive for a bit longer, but it's still good to plan alternatives...
