Upcoming Story Sequel: The Opening Act · 5:00pm Jun 25th, 2021
So! I have a story coming out this next Friday (July 2nd) called The Opening Act and I'm actually super excited about it.
Mind if I tell you a bit about it?
Cool. Read on then!
First things first: What is the story about?
Well, the story is a sequel to Under Her Spell and takes us back to Trixie, this time dealing with some new internal issues. See, she's seen magic before, sure... but it always been with a lense of mind control. Hazy and blurry, hard to focus on and remember after the fact. But then the Friendship Games happen, and my our favorite magician gets a good look, up close, at what real magic is and what it can do. The question is obviously, how does one move on with the knowledge that something like that is out there? Something that makes what you do seem so insignificant?
Trixie finds that sometimes, you don't.
As to how this story came about, I already wrote about this before somewhat, so you can skip to the bottom if you just want to see the cover art. This time, though, I have screenshots!
So, picture this. I'm on Krickis' server and she's talking about how excited she is that someone is writing a story in her universe because no one has ever finished one that isn't her. And I'm over there coming to a very important conclusion. Mainly:
So, I tell her three ideas I have. One is a changeling one, because I have a thing for changelings (hence my coming back story centering on them), one is a Violet Dusk story because I connect with her in some ways and have a story concept I'd like to develop, and the last one was a Trixie concept. And as I was explaining the Trixie one, I got some... let's call them, tempered positive reactions:
So yeah, I started planning it. She decided she liked my concept so much she wanted to make it canon, so we started talking privately. She filled me in on some stuff that hadn't/hasn't been released yet to make sure I wouldn't contradict anything. We fleshed out some more details, and I got to outlining. After that I actually came up with the sequel which will come out sometime in the not-so-distant future (titled: Secondhand Laughter).
She once again seemed to show some moderate approval for the idea:
So I'm all cylinders, two chapters into The Opening Act when the Pride and Positivity event drops and Krickis brings it to my attention, so I drop what I was working on and write a prequel to the whole thing, Under Her Spell. With that complete, then I return and finish The Opening Act. And let me tell you, while Under Her Spell was okay and I was really pleased with how it came out, this is the story I really wanted to tell.
I'm very excited I finally get to share it with you.
See you all on the 2nd.
Oh, have some cover art:
I am going to scream 👀

lol, your poor neighbors.
I'm glad you seem as excited as I am. If I hadn't already made the cover arts with the various dates, I'd already be releasing chapters. I'm feeling hella impatient.

How can you be impatient when you know how it ends? >:C

To me a story isn't real until it's out there. It doesn't live until breathes. Like, the whole, "does a tree falling make a sound if no one hears it?" deal. I want to share this story so badly!! For it to be out there especially because I do know how it ends. I want it to see the light
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
