so someone liked my work and then changed their mind about me as a person based on...??? and it's not a catalog downvote either, and it's not someone who discovered to their horror that i write trans stuff or something because those stories have the same number of downvotes as they always did i think. i can't think of anything controversial i ever did besides that, and i haven't really done anything on this site in a while besides making stupid blog posts, which makes me think:
was the mordetwi really that bad?

also this could totally be nothing but a weird coïncidence. i only noticed because Limerence and Trepidiation's engagement is so low, losing a like and gaining a dislike on both stood out.

If you know what story got downvoted first, it might be something in one of those stories that sparked such distaste. In the event that isn't the case... it might just be safe to assume 4chan? As bad as assumptions are, that one (sadly) is usually the correct one with how much peoples' stories are getting linked there for the purpose of harassment.

haha if this is an evil campaign by the hacker known as 4chan i'm sure they'd do more than get one person to flip a vote on at least two, maybe three or four fics? and again, what would 4chan have to go after me in particular anyway? also i don't see a catalog downvote, it's just those few fics that got flipped. i don't think there are even any new downvotes besides the flipped ones!
the smallness of the deed, if anything, makes me even more curious. i want to know!

If it's a multi-chapter story, they may have changed their mind midway through (this is the only case where it's likely to happen, in my experience), especially if it's incomplete and you recently posted a new chapter. If it's a minific, who knows.
It's probably for the best not to ruminate. You never know what ponies are thinking and you can drive yourself mad with worry. Downhooves are in no way a verdict on you "as a person". They just mean somepony you don't know and will never meet clicked a button for any number of reasons, many of which have nothing to do with your ability to write good horse words and none of which relate to them knowing who you are as an individual. Don't sweat it.

Anyway, in case this cause any self doubt I don't know you well but you seem like a good person and a boon to the FiMfic community.
Mordetwi is cancer on the fandom, but then again so are a bunch of things I find amusing and/or cool, so I can't really complain.
Also, the Unknown Downvoter wasn't me!
Very occasionally I misclick when reading (especially on mobile) and accidentally hit the downvote button while scrolling without noticing. Then I come back a few weeks or months or years later and wonder "Huh, why did I downvote this?"
I haven't done that with your stories, and I don't think it's likely that it happened with several stories, but... idk?

I should have had the foresight to downvote some of your stories, so I could flip all my downvotes to upvotes to cancel out the mystery flipper.
