Question of the Week#21 · 7:23pm Aug 30th, 2021

Hello everyone,

This week I had a curious question I wanted to ask and wanted to see what you all thought. So in the past I've mentioned a few story ideas here and there, and I've been considering what I want to do with these ideas. Like the Maids and Monsters as well as the Magical Filly x Tentacle Monster concept.

While thinking about them a strange thought popped into my head. Could they be potentially better in the Equestria Girls setting?

So I thought I would ask and see what you all thought if I took one of these ideas and put it into the EqG setting?

Feel free to tell me what you think.

Ive never been a fan of the EqG setting, however your stories are exceptional and it would be interesting to read, I say give it a try

I like EqG, but I don’t know about ‘better’ because Equestria is a place of monsters and magic and the mirror world isn’t, so you’d need to justify a lot, like how she would get there, what happens once she is there, how would she avoid detection by the populace at large. It’d be a very interesting story, though.

Magical girls as a concept almost make less sense in worlds where magic is common. (They still require a lot of handwaving even then)

You’ve got a point. I’m writing a story with the Power Ponies and in the story there’s actually a good number of ponies with varying levels of superpowers, and the only reason I have for why ponies don’t form competing hero/villain teams on their own is ‘they just don’t want to use their powers that way’ so :applejackunsure:

I think what I was going for is, if pony meets a monster mare in Equestria, the response would probably be ‘oh yeah, this makes sense, Equestria’s just weird like that’ and if a girl meets a monster girl in the EqG world, it’s more of an earth-shattering ‘this isn’t possible, everything I knew is wrong’ kind of thing.

I wonder if something mysterious and magical even could show up in EqG without the girls freaking out and thinking something evil has happened. They don't exactly have the best track record of first contacts that they've had to deal with. Their knee jerk reaction to anything might just default to kill it with rainbows.

5575626 Well, like Herald said, it's the concept that magic and monsters aren't too common in the EqG universe. Meanwhile, in Equestria if a monster appears or goes on a rampage, well...

So if monsters were to start showing up around a character's mansion it might have a bit more impact/drama in the EqG universe than in the MLP universe.

Also magical girls would probably work a lot better in a world with less magic.

5575609 I can understand that. For me EqG is kind of a mixed bag. It's a bit weird due to it being humans (sort of) and the cliche kill it with rainbows thing that seems to happen a lot (whatever happened to friendship). :rainbowlaugh:

5575681 Well, for most of my ideas involving the EqG most of the girls will probably be off doing other things (serving as side/background character) while other characters would take up the forefront of the story. But as I'm sure you know, I usually like to try to play both sides when it comes to monsters. Some are bad, some are good and some are just misunderstood.
