They should have just had it be it's own universe instead of piggybacking of of G4 and rendering the end of G4 null and void.

I agree, solid movie! Really looking forward to seeing the other species, as I expect their reveal will go a long way to answering the still-lingering lore questions of how we got from the end of G4 to here. Twilight was apparently doing a good job uniting the world, and now this? Wha Happun? So many questions!
