G5. Generation 5. My Little Pony: A New Generation. Man oh man. Where the heck do I begin?

I'm still a bit shocked that we're here already. Seems like just yesterday that G4 ended. But I guess that's what a pandemic and spending an unhealthy amount of time in your room writing clopfics, nearly hitting MR30 in Warframe, and finishing a Bachelor's degree with honors does to you. (Still in shock about that, too.) Ah, well.

Anyways, G5 has been out for the better part of two weeks, and I'm glad to say it's thoroughly exceeded expectations. 3D has come a long way since the noughties, that's for sure. Wanted to wait a little bit on this blog post to let the dust settle as far as the generational transition is concerned. End of one era, start of another... "when one door closes, another door opens," and all that.

Izzy and Sunny's sheer on-screen chemistry is so perfectly executed that it almost defies description. Not to disparage G4 at all, but really, IzzyScout is the one singular ship I think I've felt the strongest about, ever. Full stop. The two play off each other perfectly, and the film is so full of shipping fuel from start to finish that I couldn't not write about them ASAP. They even got their own freakin' song, full of more "potential shipfic cover" screencaps than I can shake a keyboard at, and with the aesthetic of one of my favorite eras of music. Practically tailor-made to drive me crazy with ideas...confound these ponies, they drive me to ship!

G5 being such a blank slate until the series releases is as much a curse as it is a blessing - I'm filled with more headcanons and fic ideas than I know what to do with, to the point that I've just been hurriedly scribbling them down on a .txt or an actual, physical notepad (egads!) whenever I think of 'em. Some can fit into the story I'm already writing, but others would probably be better served standing on their own...if I can ever stop writing IzzyScout long enough to get to 'em, that is!

Although it's still in progress, please give Questions #143 and Beyond a read if you're interested in a cute, feelsy, and of course, steamy IzzyScout story! I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Now if you'll excuse me...I've gotta get back to ruining the innocence increasing the maturity level of some G5 poners.

G4 stuff will continue once I'm done fawning over my shiny new literary toys...which might be a while *.*

I think Fit Right In is my new favorite MLP song, G4 included. Especially Hitch— he basically just screwed up almost everything all the gals did in unison.
