    And then, there was seven.

Seven chapters in! I'm very glad that people are liking the story. It's not everyone's taste, yet it has gotten a considerably larger response than I thought it would get. Thanks to all of you guys reading it, it's been consistently getting on the featured list with every updated chapter. However, this brings us to where we are at now.

An Absence of Creativity

A Random Spout of Nonsense by a Small Writer

I think one of the hardest things for a writer to understand is if an idea is simply a nice thought, or something that can be expanded upon into its own world. We often think of idea's and say; "Wow! That'd be a really good story. I should start writing that and get it up and see how people like it!"

Perhaps the story gets a very good rating. Perhaps the story stays #1 on the site for a couple of days, gets the 'heat' tag, and blows up!

That does not change anything if the writer is unable to expand upon that idea or come up with creative, interesting idea's. This is a problem I've struggled with, and still struggle with to this day. My stories can be summarized as mainly crossovers, idea's where videogames are usually involved. They have pre-established lore, or simply a world that I can use to my advantage to expand with this colorful palette of horses.

In stories like Born From Blood, this is probably the most evident in anything I've ever written. I had a long absence of creativity; a void that settled in my brain that wouldn't let me get anywhere with my story. No matter how many songs I listened to and droned out chapter after chapter only to delete them; no matter the opinion I got from a couple of my friends on it, it wasn't getting anywhere. So, instead of prolonging something that was going to sit in the back of my head, I ended it.

A quick, short ending, unsatisfactory for all.

Yet, I'm not sure if that was a bad thing to do. I don't think it was; it's helped me finally let go of that story. To finally let go of that idea and allow new ones to flourish. It's helped me finally start on stories that I've wanted to start, or even continue. I used to have a schedule for my stories, but that quickly burnt me out on my favorite story that I was writing at the time, which caused a huge hole in upload times. If I tied myself to a set schedule, on set dates for certain chapters, my creativity would be limited.

Yet, perhaps it being limited is a good thing? I'm not sure; I think that maybe that when your creativity goes too far, where you expand on idea's that are simple thoughts, you occupy yourself with something that wasn't supposed to get hours upon hours of attention. Only a couple of seconds, if that. What do I know though; those small idea's created some of the biggest stories on this website.

I don't know how I feel about this website still, and I've been on it for awhile. It's writing is different than any other; and I think that's for a couple of reasons. This community, at certain points, can be seen as toxic. As an avid viewer of the site, I can agree with that statement somewhat. Yet for writers, I think it has to do with the like-bar, and popularity.

When you upload and write chapters (unless it's all pre-written) you are actively getting feedback WHILE writing the story. It's sometimes really tough because the viewers don't know what your planning to write or think, and sometimes their say, or even the simply green-bar that is at the top of your story, can sway your story in a direction you never intended it to go. And, we can tell ourselves not to listen to it or not to pay attention to the likes and dislikes, but it's subconscious.

I know this has all been a pretty weird spout of nonsense, but I wanted to get this out, even if only one person reads it for a few seconds. Creativity dies when your mind doesn't wander. Perhaps that's all I meant to say. I'm not really sure; there's writers who have written all their lives, but still can't figure out a solution.

It's not a math problem. It's never absolute.
