Let’s go back to around 1990-2010 (trying to keep privacy as much as possible) where I was pretty young, so, before G4 existed there was video store where you would rent videos. I used to go straight to the children/family section and go to where the My Little Pony (G1) DVD’s were and pick one to take home.
I remember sitting and watching the dvds, I liked G1, but I don’t remember much of it, but I disliked Tales, I might not have been able to read well or assumed Tales was the same so I was pretty annoyed how it was suddenly so different.
The store shut down breaking my access to MLP and the memories would be buried. I did have a few MLP G3 related things, I think I had a board game and a drawing book but I didn’t have much.
Flashback a few years forwards and here comes one of the only positive moments I remember with my sibling. She showed me a bunch of G4 videos on YouTube and we watched S1 together. I remember being able to watch ‘Dragonshy’ when she wasn’t and Trixie (mainly becomes of her outfit) reminding me of chocolate!
Also I thought G4 was related to G3, with G4 being a cartoon adaption of G3 (wasn’t aware of the G3 cartoon for some reason) so I was disappointed in Scootaloo being a small pegasus and being like “Who’s Twilight”.
But the show grew on me... I loved Twilight a lot, something funny happens to her a lot in my imagination back then (kinda like how I treat Trixie in my imagination now).
But when I went middle/high school I forced myself to hate it because I was growing up... but deep inside my love for the series was trying to break through and shine again, I also did have a few peeks at the show and being surprised at seeing Twilight’s house all destroyed without any context.
But when I graduated I let my love shine through and I became a fan again!
G4 has a huge meaning to me... discovering it was something me and my sibling did positively together
I’m glad.
G4 has a huge meaning to us all.
