    A New Story

Well, due to my circumstances the past month and a half, I have been unable to do much writing. Mostly this is due to a block for my main story due to stress from a new work environment, emotional situations in my personal life, and a point where the words just wouldn't flow like they had before. Plus, I could barely get online whatsoever, and what time I was on, I was playing catch up so much

    Apologies and Promises

I'm sorry. I've had a bit of writer's block, where I know what I want to write, but when I go to put it, it doesn't want to come out. So, unfortunately, I have to belay the next chapter until next weekend. Again, I'm sorry that I didn't update it, but some times the creative flow just doesn't want to go. I'll be working on it during the week so that it'll be easier to get done.

    Delays...

Well, I've started a job as an Officer. Training goes on all week, and the training grounds are far away, so I'll be staying in dorms around there. There is no internet out there, however. But, on weekends, from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, I'll be able to access my net again. I should have another chapter for my story by tomorrow or later tonight, and while I'm away, I'll be working on

Thoughts on Heroes · 6:22am Dec 9th, 2012

I'd really hate to be a hero. You know why? Because other than recognition from authority, nothing else changes.

If you've read any sort of hero comics or seen any hero movies, you know this to be true. At the end of the day, the world is saved, and one or a few individuals are to thank for the safety. Yet, what do they get? Compensation for what they've put out? People treating them different (for those who are known by their other persona, such as Iron Man)? No, they get nothing but a simple "Thank you" and then everyone goes about their lives.

Now, at first, you might think, well, isn't that a bit shallow? But you have to think: heroes put their own LIVES at stake. And no one even bats an eye afterward.

The Mane 6 are a prime example of this.

Applejack? What happened to her farm after saving Equestria for how many times? Nothing. She and her few family members are the only ones doing the harvesting, and their business isn't even booming afterward, even though a lot of ponies would know of her family name, at least. You'd think that there'd be more demand for apples grown by a hero, right? Wrong. They have the same number of trees, the same in and out of apples, and just the few of them working day and night to make ends meat.

Rarity? You'd think that for her, at least, being in fashion would pay off getting her name through the fame of saving everypony's flanks, right? Wrong. She still has to talk to ponies face-to-face and try and get her name out there through notoriety by high-end fashion designers. Seriously, wouldn't you want clothes that were made by a hero? I know I would. I wouldn't wear them, I'd frame them and put them up and be like "Yeah, a hero made these" but I'd still buy it.

Fluttershy? Don't you think that by now there would be other ponies coming to her for needs of their pets? Or even to help out around with her animal friends? Sure, she'd be the most reluctant from the notoriety, but hell, she's helped save lives, I'd at least like to pay her back a little by making her every day life a bit less strenuous.

Pinkie? You'd think that after saving the world, AND being asked PERSONALLY by the Princess to oversee parties, that more ponies would want to attend her parties, even if at first they're not their own cup-of-tea, but, hell, I'd like to go to one and say that I danced with a hero. And then, you'd also think that the business for Sugarcube Corner would boom, as well, since she works there and pretty much makes all the sweets available.

Rainbow? Seriously, she's saved the world, but still works as a weather pony? And also she's been proven time and again to be THE fastest flier in Equestria. WHY IS SHE NOT ON THE WONDERBOLTS?!?!?! She already has fame, she has the speed, she has the technique, so why is she still waiting?

And Twilight. I can understand her not really wanting anything from the fame. But I've not seen new books come into the library, have you? She's probably read all of the books there ten times each. Why is nopony donating to the expansion of the library? She'd have more that she could study, and would be able to have a more vast store of knowledge for anypony that wanted to use that resource.

In conclusion, no matter what universe it is, this truth rings true: The general populace are immense inconsiderate dickheads, and heroes will constantly be taken for granted. When another disaster comes along, it's always, "Oh, the heroes will take care of it", but, really, what have the general populace done in return for those services?

This rant brought to you by an enraged nerd who has given when he could to organizations that try to help heroes in our world, but has read many comic books.

You don't have the hero mindset. But the heros in some cases feel obligated to help but most often its just a drive we have. I know because I have it and not being able to fill that role messes with my head. Its not about fame or thanks and even though I hate 90% of the people out there I still want to do everything in my power to protect those that are inoccent. That isn't exactly explained right but idk how to truely explain it. But most heros are fine with having to work for everything. It gives it more value. ( but rainbow really should be atleast an honorary wonderbolt and rarity has a decent business, remember saphirre shores? But I digress.

590626 I know I don't have the right mind set for being a hero. I've always said, if I had Force abilities, I wouldn't be a Jedi, I'd be a Sith. But, I look at it like this: when there is a hero who's identity is known, like Iron Man, what happens? Stark Industries didn't have more support for stopping war across the globe. Instead, the government was like "Here's a medal, thanks for what you did, now give us the plans for the suit or we'll end you (metaphorically)". My whole thing is, why is it that there are so few who show their appreciation? They save the day, and for that day and maybe a few after, everyone's like "Oh, thank you" but then they don't even do anything in return.

I can understand that some wouldn't be in for any reason but to save the world, like Superman. Hell, even the Doctor falls under this category, but he purposely makes it so that no one knows that anything happened or that he's to thank for the survival of the human race. But most of them have a larger outlook on things, but also don't have to worry about some things like the common heroes do.

Take for instance the ones who are human and either fight crime because they choose to, or get powers from an outside source. They still have lives that they have to carry out, whether they like it or not. They'll still have bills to pay, and have to pay for where they live, and being a hero will do nothing to help that at all. It doesn't pay, and they're having to take time out of their schedule to go out and take care of business. In that respect, I think the second Spiderman movie got it right (though, I don't really like that arc of Spiderman...)

But I'm rambling now. I just think it'd be better if in some of the cases, the heroes were given more than a thank you and a pat on the back.

I think part of that living the other life is kind of why the justice league had to come about to take that extra stress off of some of them. Or many of the other organizations like avengers and other shield projects.

I think that if you have the power to save and defend you decide its worth the extra effort. You find a way to balance things

As for force powers, if I had them id be a gray jedi. Personal belifs of justice and the belief that the force itself is neither light nor dark and the users are what colors it. That and the jedi coucil is too close minded and I want to use force lightening. (Digression!)

590803 But, of course, force lightning is badass. I'd be a sith, though, because jedi ideals and philosophies, while correct in some aspects, just don't make sense for any beings. But as a sith, I'd be more practical. I wouldn't threaten anyone, nor force my command down unless challenged. I'd hide my force potential so any others that would challenge me would think I'm just weak, only I'd show them a glimpse of my true powers that are hidden. And if ever I come across a jedi, I wouldn't fight them. I'd sit them down and talk and counter their beliefs to show them just how flawed it is (as I've done with some really hardcore christians... They later rethought a lot of things >.>)

You too are a grey jedi my young padawan. There are many varients of them.

As for the belief counter, its fun if you can out talk the missionaries that come door to door.

590820 Nah, I enjoy being part of the Sith Empire too much >.>

Well, good luck on that, I look forward to testing my skills against you in a friendly bout.

590834 sounds fun

Blasts of force energy, sticks that can cut damn near anything, super ninja moves, and lightening. Damn right it sounds fun.
