[NEW FIC] Back to writing ponies! (...sorta)

tl;dr - I put ponies in another fic, but only for a few chapters

So, real quick, minor confession...this fic is actually one of my oldest, and it's not on this site.

Hey, easy, easy, let me explain.

[UPDATE] It's like being nibbled to death by cats

This chapter is a straight up continuation of the previous chapter, and there's literally zero time skip, unlike most of my chapters in this fic. So much so, in fact, that what had originally been two separate chapters (Gilda fights Sunset, sleepover happens) had to be combined into one because the "Gilda fights Sunset" chapter was going to be too long. It was during the

[UPDATE] Yes, you saw that right, new chapter

Not much to say about this one that the notes at the bottom of the chapter itself don't already say. Obviously, my health is much better and my sleep is improving to the point where I'm not having to take medication for it nearly as often. Work is going pretty good (I'll post about that at some point, it deserves its own post) and I've gotten HYPER into The Lost Tomb, which if you haven't read it

[UPDATE] When you get medical confirmation...

So I've said in my rather sporadic updates that I've been going through a lot, and I believe I've mentioned that the things that have been happening have been rather more draining on the ol' spoons than I otherwise expected.

[UPDATE] Mission accomplished, as evidenced by my brain not shutting up! · 5:01am Feb 3rd, 2022

Back in 2019 when I started My Empire of Dirt, I began writing it because I needed to process the events leading up to, during, and right after my homeless period. It seems to have been successful, because I'm practically itching to write more about other things. I've gotten a new idea for Book 3 in the trilogy started by Lost Little Wolf (already hinted at in the most recently published chapter) and new ideas just keep hammering at my brain, pretty much faster than I can write them down.

Like this one...

This Can NOT be An Equestria Girl's Everyday Life in a World of Monster Girls!
I was just trying to stay under the radar!
My name is Sunset Shimmer, I used to be the premier student to Princess Celestia in the magical land of Equestria, a unicorn of unparalleled power and intelligence, and destined to become an alicorn princess...at least, according to the mirror portal. Not that Celestia would acknowledge my right to ascendancy. When I started pushing to learn the secrets of ascension, I was banished. I escaped through the mirror portal and found myself in a world of strange bipedal creatures called 'humans' that didn't even realize there was such a thing as magic until their world's 'monster' races revealed themselves to the public at large. The mirror turned me into a human, probably a mechanism to make it easier to blend in with the dominant species of this world. I'm just glad it remade me into an adult instead of, say, a teenager; then I'd have to live through puberty all over again!
I found an abandoned apartment complex where the ownership was stuck in a legal black hole and moved myself in. I planned on just keeping to myself, faking whatever documents were needed to live day-to-day, finding a job that paid the bills, so when the portal re-opened in 30 moons I'd be able to sneak back into Equestria and resume my studies to become an alicorn, with or without the princess' blessing.
I don't even legally EXIST, so imagine my absolute shock when an Agent Luna, Coordinator with the Cultural Exchange Office knocked on my door and informed me that I was selected as a host "family" for a Lamia named Rarity from the monster races! Of course I couldn't tell them I wasn't even there legally, or even human, but sometimes...I think MIss Luna knows already, somehow.
Now I'm the target of the affections of a VERY amorous snake-girl who doesn't seem to understand that I can't return her affections without Miss Luna trying to arrest me, which would blow the lid off ALL my efforts to falsify my origins and blend in.
I just wanted an everyday life, not monster girls!

As you can probably guess, this one is going to be in the same oeuvre as The Consequences of Good Intentions, Whom Gods Deflower, and Crossing the Streams; that is, steering hard into the blatantly sexual without any actual sex happening "on screen." This is pretty unavoidable as a crossover/fusion with Monster Masume. Yes, the monster girls will be counterparts to other characters from the Equestria Girls series, no I'm not telling which is which until I actually write this. :rainbowwild:

Indeed, that's basically the part of Monster Musume that isn't just "title is plot summary".

True, but the advantage of doing this kind of crossover is the male protag of MM is so stultifying bland that he can be swapped with just about anyone (or anything, I think a parody writing exercise replacing him with a slice of slightly undercooked toast would be more interesting than a dude who's only notable feature is he likes legs to a degree that he doesn't care if they're not even mammalian legs) that the story's gonna be so much more interesting than the original and the monster girls are so interesting and dynamic, it's almost impossible not to have a hit on your hands. :rainbowwild:
