My Little Pony Tell Your Tale Episode 7-8 Review 05/13/2022 · 2:53pm May 13th, 2022
*Sleepily* When the moon hits your eye, like a big Pizza pie…
WAH!!! *Flips himself up* Are we on? *Clears throat*
GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for Generation 5 and beyond! Yes, I am aware I had been absent from blogging for about a week and a half. As some of my supporters know, my family and I were on an excursion to Italy with a few family friends enjoying all the sights and sounds of the country (Never even having a bad meal). And yes, in all that time these past few days since my return, I’ve been having to ask the same question over and over ‘How’s the trip Drama? How’s the trip? How’s the trip?’ when all they had to do was submit a letter in my mail…
IT’S CALLED PRIVATE MESSAGING! USE IT, YOU BUCKING—
Now Drama… temper, temper…
*Takes a deep breath* Anyways… we are not here today to talk about my trip to Italy. Two episodes of ‘Tell Your Tale’ had since aired in the time of my departure. True, another episode has just aired today. But for right now, much like when my family had to play catch up on two episodes of ‘This is Us’, I will be covering the previous two episodes this week and then by next week I’ll have been caught up with the upcoming two episodes (From this week’s to the next). Sounds like a plan, everyone? No objections? Good? On we go!
Now… with no further delay, we will be discussing two episodes for today’s blog. The first of which deals with a rather popular trend in today’s social media craze. And the other tackles a rather pressing issue of which has been right under our nose… but only now do we shed some light on the matter. And what better way to start this blog than by starting with an episode of which ‘one’ particular pony is most familiar with?
*GASPS* O… M… G!
That’s right, Pippsqueaks! Released on April 28th, 2022, we tackle the seventh episode uploaded in the series entitled:
Clip Trot
Unsurprisingly… it’s MLP’s shout-out to these guys.
Anyways, the synopsis of this episode follows, and I quote:
Pipp tries to get her friends in on a Clip Trot trend, but they aren’t performing to her liking.
Sort of resembles how Moxxie can never seem to impress Blitz despite all the hard work he puts to actually ‘do’ his job…
I can do without the audio commentary, sir!
*Pause* Anyways… the episode begins with Pipp Petals performing her usual schtick: Playing with her phone. But in this one particular episode, she finds herself watching a trending dance video on the social media app ‘ClipTrot’, a video of which depicts bunnies dancing to hip-hop music.
Even a 90s kid like me would cringe over this…
But really it’s just a bunch of little furry bunnies dancing to some random ‘Bunny Hop’ tune, which I will admit could be slightly entertaining… for about a minute…
You’ve been hit by—you’ve been hit by—a smooth criminal!
GORGEOUS!!!!
Yeah… the bunnies are better animated ‘here’ than the movie…
But now wanting to suddenly capitalize on this popular trend, Pipp rallies her friends to perform a video similar to the Bunny Hip Hop.
Is it too late to consider options for our television career?
But being the supportive friends as they are, Sunny and the rest decide to play along with Pipps’ idea. And so we find the remainder of the Mane 5 performing the dance they want to do with the music.
You can dance…
You can shine…
No!
I’m on tonight…
You know my hips don’t’ lie (No fighting)…
And I’m starting to feel it’s right…
NO!
How come every time you come around…
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like…
London, London, London, wanna go down like…
London, London, London, be goin’ down like…
NOOOO!!!
When I’m feeling lonely…
Sad as I can be…
Unfortunately for our ponies, none of the dancing lives up to Pipp’s expectations of mimicking the bunnies’ dance ‘exactly’. Sheesh… sounds like trying to fulfill the impossible demands of a certain ‘Animated Movie Reviews’ critic. And ergo, Pipp ultimately pressures them into performing the dance based on her own choreography.
Can’t read my…
Can’t read my…
No one can read my…
Poker face…
(She got me like no pony)
Feeling a slight uncomfortable with Pipp’s drive to perfection, her friends end up making excuses for not wanting to be part of this craze.
I’ve got a table read for a ‘Cat Person’ movie…
I’ve got a voice-over session for ‘Army of the Dead’…
I’ve got to shoot my final scenes for ‘Disenchanted’…
And I… got nothing…
Quitters…
Desperately wanting to complete this video, Pipp goes to one of her ‘Mane Melody’ coworkers in town, in which case, a pony named Jazz to help shoot the video. Unfortunately, she learns the hard truth about the ‘Bunny Craze’ that has been floating about.
Girl, the Bunny Craze ended after that ‘Space Jam’ movie…
Posey’s going to be a foil for the princess, is she?
All joking aside, apparently with the video trend having falling out of style all the ponies right now are just waiting for ‘the next big thing’. Like how folks thought ‘Hazbin Hotel’ was the best online cartoon on YouTube, when it turns out everyone’s just waiting for the next big thing.
Worst… joke… EVER!
Too soon, Dramamaster. Too soon…
Yeah… but now suddenly revigorated, Pipp instead decides to make a ‘Pony’ version of the bunny hip-hop, but instead using footage she recorded of her friends doing their own dancing… well, at least it’s not like the ‘Loud House’ incident…
*Shudders* Never post a video of someone without the person’s permission…
But luckily… this is not ‘that’ kind of episode, faithful readers. If everyone was expecting the kind of story where the protagonist uses the footage of her friends just to make her video gain a billion views only to subject her friends to ridicule and trolls (The worst of which are in the comments)… yeah, this is not that kind of show. Instead, rather than the ‘negatives’ of social media… instead we get a Pony sensation that has spread all across the country.
Calling out around the world…
Are you ready for a brand-new beat?
Summer’s here and the time is right…
For dancin’ in the streets…
HEY! I’M WADDLING HERE!!!
Alphabittle cameo confirmed… happy now?
Guards! Bring me those hooves!
While I admit this episode is likely not one of the ‘strongest’ installments in the ‘Tell Your Tale’ run, it’s nice to see everything pay-off nicely not just for Pipp but for her friends as well. Nearly every pony they’ve met loves the video, even the little unicoons that somehow got wind of the vid—Wait?! Unicoons?
Huh… there’s something you don’t see every day…
In this simplest ordeal this episode can muster, anyone can try to mimic the success of the trendiest music video either on TikTok or whichever video sharing site we prefer. It’s one of those ‘be yourself’ type of stories and just stick to dancing to however you please. All the same, no matter how you do your work, you never know who you might end up inspiring along the way.
Who knows? These three could be in line to be the new CMC.
*Pause* Worth a shot…
Anyways, we move on to the following episode of the series in which we have a straight up ‘Hitch Trailblazer’ episode specifically titled:
Foal Me Once
Can't imagine how he'll be if he's been foaled 'twice'!
*Pause* Sheesh… some people take their job too seriously.
Tell me about it…
The synopsis for this episode goes as followed, and I quote:
Hitch tries to find the thief stealing ‘everything’ across the town.
So, there’s a serial ‘toucher’ on the loose?
*Shocked* What? NO! God… cartoons are so suggestive…
*Takes a breath* Anyways… we find our good friend, ‘the Sheriff’, on patrol when he stumbles upon a crime happening in ‘Maretime Bay’…
AMP IT UP! ACTION PONE!
And what crime you ask could ‘possibly’ warrant for Hitch’s immediate attention? A bank robbery? A hostage situation? An old foe from Equestria’s past returning to suck up all the returning magic across the land?
IT’S THAT!!!
*GASP* LITTERING?!?!
*Pause* Yeah… and I thought the Powerpuff Girls found this annoying. But still and all, leave it to Hitch to be so determined to find out whose the culprit for trashing a town block.
Hold that pose please.
Just need to insert this…
A little swab of that…
Get the measurements right…
No time for a sandwich…
I’m hungry for ‘justice’!
Really?
Believe it or not, this is Hitch on a ‘good’ day. But as it quickly turns out, this one issue is only one of ‘many’ problems he uncovers the moment he returns to the station.
Hello! Call for Hitch!
Attacked by children’s toys?
What do you mean the animatronics went berserk?
Ma’am did you ‘try’ pressing the reset button?
NO, I DON’T KNOW SONIC’S OPERATING NUMBER!!!
Don’t ask…
But just to keep on track with the plot: Turns out Maretime Bay has been bombarded with reports of missing and/or stolen items. We’re talking stolen paintings, smoothie supplies, even a collection of sunglasses. And Zipp just happened to check in to inquire why he doesn’t just find a new deputy to split up the work. This is where we address the ‘elephant in the room’… or in this case the ‘pony’.
As you may have noticed in several episodes, nearly ‘every’ major character has made a return for this series (Though ‘mostly’ for cameos). All… except for ‘one’ pony, whose ‘only’ real appearance is… well, an ‘Easter Egg’:
A little to the right… might want to zoom in…
We probably already guessed it by now, but this episode pretty much confirms that Sprout had been ‘fired’ from the force prior to all the mayhem he created. Now we’ve often made this complaint of how the MLP cast were a little ‘too forgiving’ with their friends, but mostly enemies, for certain crimes that to us are ‘unforgivable’ but they pass it off as if it’s nothing. In this case, however, what Sprout did was ‘not’ going to fly and I bet not even his own ‘mother’ would vouch for him to keep his job.
Not like he really contributed much to the force anyway…
One of these days, I’m getting him in his sleep…
But because Hitch seems to forget about the ‘No I in Team’ mantra, Hitch insists he can handle the cases solo.
Fly home Zephyrina, I work alone!
Oh ‘that’s’ going to end well…
And so Hitch dashes off to investigate every pony who made the call reporting their missing items. Except for Pipp and Izzy, because for whatever reason this episode decided they couldn’t ‘incorporate’ an appearance for either of these two (Which also marks this as the ‘first’ episode where some of the ‘mane’ casts are absent entirely). Of course, even after gathering all the evidence he can… turns out he’s nowhere closer to figuring this out than when he started.
I just need some pony to explain this to me… like I’m five years old…
Not now kids, I’m busy!
*Pause* Don’t think I don’t notice the wings on snails or the horns on either the bunnies or raccoons. I’m just waiting for a Pig with Wings…
*Rolls eyes* Ifrits are fine…
The next morning dawns over Maretime Bay, and sure enough Hitch finds himself in a rather… ‘messy’ situation.
Assuming that Hitch is the thief based on all the ‘proof’, he submissively throws himself in jail to atone for his supposed crime.
I lived to conquer crime, but crime has conquered me…
Luckily, Zipp steps into the frame to point out that all the evidence and notes have likely set him up as the culprit, as the criminal ‘specifically’ stole a ‘few of his favorite things’. Including… his favorite beverage.
HOW’D THIS EVEN GET IN HERE?!?!
Returning to his senses, Hitch is able to deduce that the ‘real’ culprit behind the stolen items happened to be ‘right under his nose’… the entire time…
Turns out the only reason these critters ‘stole’ his favorite stuff was ‘not’ out of malice for the ponies at all. But rather, they only took the stuff to receive his attention, yet he’d been ignoring them due to his commitment to his job.
Have I been blind to their needs this whole time?
This guy ‘definitely’ doesn’t see the big picture.
Eventually all the items are returned to Hitch’s closest friends…
Even me?!?!
Uh… hold that thought. *Clears throat* In addition, Hitch apologizes to them for ignoring them in the past and it seems things are going to be much different for these group of friends from now on…
Let me guess… you stole an item to make someone happy?
Yes…
Overall, like most episodes in this series, the story is pretty predictable, and we can tell just what is going to happen. But when we look deeper into Hitch’s reluctance to accept help, much less having a new deputy, I do feel we must understand where he’s coming from. Ever since they were foals, Hitch and Sprout had been best friends up to when they started working for the police. Sprout may not have always been reliable, he can be both lazy and cowardice, but Hitch has always pushed him to be better. Then Sprout goes full ‘Dictator’ the moment Hitch ‘trusts’ him to watch the town and well… it could happen to any of us.
Of course, while ‘any’ pony could’ve reached out to talk some sense into Hitch, the show (And the previous movie) seemed to hint that there could be a close bond between the Sheriff and Princess Zipp. Naturally, she’s one of the smartest members of the team, how she was able to deduce the evidence just with a glance. And honestly, I can see Zipp serving as a deputy for Maretime Bay if this whole ‘future Queen’ deal isn’t cutting it for her. And Celestia forbid, fans love this ship more than the ‘Hunny’ pairing…
*Gulp* I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut…
So… there you have it! Two completely different episodes covered for the week. On one hand, while I wouldn’t call ‘Clip Trot’ the strongest of the two, the melody inserted into the episode is pretty catchy and at the very least it’s a ‘slightly’ fun Pipp episode. On the other hand, I can see fans leaning more toward ‘Foal Me Once’ as the better of the two as it does give Hitch a chance in the spotlight and there are admittedly some funny moments. They both serve well on their own accord, the plots may be too predictable, but I can see people having a slight bit of fun.
That just leaves the biggest question of them all: What do you think?
Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.
Until then faithful readers, this is the Dramamaster829… AND I’M ALL CAUGHT UP!!!
Should we tell him he’s still going to have two episodes and a Make Your Mark trailer to cover?
Nah… let him have this one…
Nice reviews!!! I like Foal Me Once best, but one of my irl friends used it as a reason to ship Zipp and Hitch...
I see them as more sibling-like in relationships, to be honest
5657116
'Foal Me Once' definitely seems to be the fan favorite of the two.
And yes, it's interesting how the fans view Zipp & Hitch. On one hand, we have those fans who think they 'might' be the legit ship acknowledging Hitch & Sunny are merely childhood friends and nothing more. On the other hand, they have more of that 'sibling' dynamic as if Hitch has the older sister he never had.
Either way, they do seem fun to watch and perhaps Zipp would make for a solid Deputy while she's staying in this town.
5657117
All very true. Heh, Deputy Zipp...runaway from the Royals of the Pegasi making a quiet life as the second in command to the best Sheriff in the sleepy town of Maretime Bay
Awesome double review, so many funnies, both episodes were nice, but i liked Foal Me Once better, they got some wicked dance moves XD, anyway stay cool, stay classy Drama, you're awesome and looking forward to more
5657134
I'll probably be doing another Double Review with this week's episode and probably next week's if a new one comes out. At least so I'm caught up. I am aware there's a trailer for the 'Make Your Mark' special, which I will cover in a separate blog. And yes... I am aware some jackass released the whole synopsis... I'M COMPLETELY IGNORING IT PEOPLE!!!
Anyways... 'Foal Me Once' definitely is the favorite of the two. Especially that little rap Hitch does. I swear he channeled his Lin-Manuel Miranda for that scene while he was gathering clues.
5657116
I slowly starting to ship these two after watching it. That little eye roll she does just scream "Yep, that my sheriff"
I wonder what was Zipp originally gonna ask Hitch about.
5657132
Deputy Zipp... secretly a royal runaway hiding out in a small town where she prefers to enforce the law...
I can totally see that as a FanFic.
5657138
Hmm... the first time, I have no idea what Zipp was originally going to ask for before finding Hitch tied up at work.
Second time... maybe she was going to ask if Hitch changed his mind about wanting some help, until she found him locking himself up in one of his own cells.
5657138
Probably if he's seen Pipp, cause like Drama said, she's nowhere to be seen
5657139
Yeah, definitely. Fanfic writers, to your keyboards!
They were good episodes. That dancing sure was trendy, and yeah this confirmed Sprout was fired which was for the best
5657142
She could be working at her salon.
Izzy... Well I don't know. Everyone in show have a job except Izzy. Sunny is working at her little smoothie shop, Hitch working as the sheriff of Maretime Bay and Zipp is he's new deputy, Pipp is working at Salon,Izzy has none. We all know that she is great at arts and crafts.
5657144
I wouldn't be surprised if eventually some group managed to get the audio of that tune so they could do their 'own' dance video.
As for Sprout losing his job... maybe it was for the best. But now that begs the question: Where on Earth has that dude been all this time?
Did he leave town to find himself? Or has he been wallowing up in his mother's house, lazily lying on a couch, while thinking how terrible his life is while eating pizza all day?
5657149
True, maybe they'll give her a job later
5657153
erm i think that was a wanted poster honestly
5657170
Kid... that... is... THE EASTER EGG!!!
*Offscreen* Drama, Drama! Remember your blood pressure! He didn't mean it! He was just trying to help!
I DIDN'T ASK FOR IT!!!
*Offscreen* Just calm down... let it go... let him win this...
*Takes a breath* Fineeeeeeee... I'll let it go... for now.
5657175
You almost made me choke on my potato salad
(Loudly): THAT'S AMORE!!!!!
Same goes for my mother! Small fucking world bro! (No seriously she's playing catch up as well.)

Those are actually some really good song options. Shame I didn't think of them sooner.
5657358
Yeah. Those critters didn't mean any grievances to any pony. All they wanted was Hitch's attention and he wasn't giving them the time of day. But hopefully this sentence is very brief. But in that short time, they'll have all the attention they'll need for the time being.
