Just a tidbit for the villains getting petrified in the Series Finale

So, we all know how Discord froze the villains in stone for their punishment in the S9 Finale (despite my many gripes with it) but there's something interesting that I discovered after an analysis of a S8 episode of all things. Now note, none of this is factual and this could all be completely misunderstood, but bear with me.

    Hi

Hello. I'm a nerd who likes MLP. That's really all there is to me (I don't actually mean that BTW, I do have a life). But maybe I'll find some creative liberties to write a few stories on this site. Who knows?

Just a tidbit for the villains getting petrified in the Series Finale · 5:18am Jun 11th, 2022

So, we all know how Discord froze the villains in stone for their punishment in the S9 Finale (despite my many gripes with it) but there's something interesting that I discovered after an analysis of a S8 episode of all things. Now note, none of this is factual and this could all be completely misunderstood, but bear with me.

So, think back to the Season 8 episode, A Rockhoof and a Hard Place. Now, at the time stamp 3:47, something interesting is said by Ocellus:

"We just studied all about how Princess Celestia and Luna used a spell to trap Discord in stone sleep for hundreds of moons."

According to Ocellus, the petrification spell also puts you to sleep. Now take this as a grain of salt as this is Season 8 we're talking about, the season with no lack of continuity errors. But, if we do take this literally, then this means that when someone is petrified it also renders them unconscious.

Now you may find the obvious flaw with this perception, in the case of Keep Calm and Flutter On:

"Being turned to stone doesn't keep me from hearing every word Celestia says."

Discord points out the fact that he can hear while trapped in stone, which would also likely mean he was conscious. Now my argument against this is, simply, he is Discord. It's not like Chrysalis, Tirek, or Cozy Glow have chaotic powers—not currently at least, as Cozy did temporarily—so I would find it very unlikely that they could hear everything. Remember how when Spike called out for Discord to come back and play Ogres and Oubliettes again with them after kicking him out, that Discord just randomly pops back in? My theory here is that he can basically hear anything, no matter where he is or what he is—although it is possible, he just when invisible—and that would naturally mean he could also likely either be conscious while in stone, or at least can hear.

So, what does this mean for our Terrible Trio? ... they're dead. Yup, if this theory is true, then they're all dead. And I don't think I even need to point out how messed up killing them is—considering one of them is a child—and this has only further increased my hatred for the finale. With the Trio likely being unconscious while in there, and the fact that Discord implies they'll be, and I quote: "Together forever," that pretty much sums up to: they're dead. So, I can't be like, the only one to see the hypocrisy of the writers here, right? Like, they introduce the entire twist of Grogar being Discord because they wanted the Terrible Trio to be the ones to fight Twilight, and because they viewed Grogar as being too dark for the show, and yet here, they show three—wanted criminals, yes, but still—living individuals being killed in a children's show. Wow... just wow is all I can say.

And if this theory is wrong, this still doesn't remove my hatred for the finale, that's for sure, but if it is, then I have earned a whole 'nother level of hatred for Discord, Celestia, Luna, the Main 6, and basically everyone who as at the battle who basically mocked and sneered at the dead bodies of three beings. Yeah, so it's justifiable for the Main 6 to eternally freeze them in a state of either eternal unconsciousness—basically death—or in a state of eternal suffering where they can't even goddamn move, compared to the quick and painless death the Terrible Trio could’ve offered back—thanks to the unicorns shield they only narrowly escaped—and then they have the audacity to laugh at their fates? This makes me seriously question the true morality of the ponies, and how a show about love and tolerance just plainly either kills those three, or eternally keeps them in a situation of suffering. This also makes me question if I've been on the wrong side of the whole debacle, after all, there's that saying that history is written by the victors. Yeah, I kinda wished that the villains would've won now, not gonna lie there. But oh well, at the end of the day, I'm just obsessing over a children's show, and also this is purely fictional and just something made to sell toys. And also, the Finale can suck my a**. I absolutely despise it and one of these days, I'm going to write a cure for it.

Don’t take this particularly seriously, this is just a fan expressing his opinions and displaying his findings. As I already said, take this with a grain of salt.
