Beware! · 4:22pm Jun 13th, 2022

Just spreading some awareness here. Feel free to skip this if you already use secure passwords and/or a password manager in addition to that.

I recently helped a very nice guy I'm sure most of you have at least heard of here on this site to make sure they won't get hacked again and I just thought since I'm a computer gal working in this field, I'd at least do my part and make sure it won't happen to any of you, either.

You can follow the conversation over on this blog or look up cybersecurity yourself because it is important. Don't think it's okay to be lazy 'cause there's no way you of all people could get hacked. That's definitely not the case. You should be wary about password security because a lot of bad stuff can happen if you aren't.

For example, if your account gets hacked and you are clever enough to use that password everywhere because it's just sooooo easy to remember it that way, then lucky you, the hacker has easy access to most if not all accounts you own. If they get access to your e.-mail? They have an even easier time resetting passwords on other accounts. If you don't have a password manager and don't trust them, then at least make sure stuff like your Amazon account and other accounts you make purchases with have two-factor authentication enabled. It wouldn't do to get indebted due to a stupid mistake, now would it? :raritywink:
