Not sure. It was a great episode to help Sunny embrace her Alicorn magic, but lets not make Sunny feel worse then she was, because she was born an Earth Pony before having her Alicorn magic, so she is still learning on how to control it. It takes time and practice, and not surprising to know that this episode takes place before Make Your Mark since Sunny is still learning on how to control her magic.

Right now, the only G5 medium that's nailing it is the comics.
I've always been skeptical that Hasbro was going to be able to catch lightning in a bottle twice.

I was pretty certain that not only were they not going to but they didn't want to. Hasbro was extremely slow to exploit the market that was Bronies and wanted the traditional young girl market back without all the "creepy men."
As for where they are now, well I don't know and I'm not sure they do either.
Wait, is Sunny's glittergasm spell the first time uni-/alicorn magic has been used in G5 for something other than basic levitation? Because I'm waiting for the moment when other unicorns look at that and think, "what else can my horn do?"
