Should I Continue Emerald Takes Canterlot? · 4:09am Oct 5th, 2022
At the moment I'm wondering if Emerald Takes Canterlot is really something that I want to continue writing; I'm not sure if there's actually anything in the concept that's truly worth exploring that couldn't be accomplished with a short epilogue or something like that;
Do keep in mind that Slice of Life isn't what I normally write; usually I like adventure stories more; the original Bound Elemental story was an experiment; the first chapter of which had been sitting in my google drive for many, many months.
I guess I'm just looking for advice and ideas for how I can deal with this; I sorta promised a bunch of people I'd be writing more Emerald Flare, but I don't want to be forcing myself to write something if it's not fun.
Thing is, I hate leaving a story half-written as well.
So... thoughts?
Addendum: it occurs to me that Emerald Take Canterlot is a story about someone finding a useful, satisfying life. That is not something I have done for myself yet. Maybe I should come back when I can write what I know.
Maybe... write some one-shots of Emerald instead? Like, maybe Emerald got upset at somepony, burnt down some property in the process, then gets summoned to court. Or maybe Emerald discovers a passion for something.
Or Emerald could even parody some story from here or elsewhere.
Just some friendly suggestions. I hope it helps.
