Decades passed after the banishment of the Sun Tyrant and the return of the rightful Sovereign of the Moon. Life resumed its course, even if not exactly in the same fashion, despite the hushed whispers of Solar rebels in plain sight and dark carriages stopping at ponies' homes at night.
Applejack herself knew or cared little about this, however. As long as she had her farm, her family, and—most importantly—her apples, all was well.
At least until she harvested the wrong tree, and met the wrong pony at the worst possible time...
Now with a review from /mlp/ and one from PaulAsaran!
A ponyfic adaptation of the 1969 Hungarian cult-classic, a Tanú (The Witness). No prior knowledge is assumed or necessary. For more details, please see the blogpost.
Somepony once asked the Great and Powerful Trixie why she travels: "To show you all how great I am, of course."
The real answer, naturally, isn't that simple. What would drive a pony to travel the world, spouting her greatness? Meet the pony Trixie was before she donned the hat and cape and catch a glimpse of the pony she couldn't be.

Here stands I, Nightmare Moon. Look upon the greatness of my Kingdom, Sister, and despair.
Once, long ago, Equestria was full of life. Then the Nightmare came. She cast down her sister, sealed away the sun and cursed the world to an eternal winter.
A thousand years later in the ruins of what was once Ponyville you find hoofprints, traces of the last pony. You follow them to answers, tragedy, and the terrible truth.
Submission for the 2017 Nightmare Moon Group picture prompt contest.

Twelve years ago, Rainbow Dash caused a tragedy in order to save her son's life.
The trauma of that day forever changed her from the happy, sporty, encouraging mother into a paranoid, overly cautious, overbearing hover mom. When Haze was a foal, he couldn't have known how strange this treatment was. As he's on the verge of becoming a young stallion, however, he can tolerate Dash's interference in his life less and less as the days pass.
All the while, Soarin is watching from the sidelines, wondering what to do about it. Before too long, something is going to give, and with two of the most stubborn, hard headed ponies in the world in this picture, somepony is going to get hurt.
To fix his own family and find a way out of this difficult situation, Soarin must first confront his own past: memories from long ago, haunted by the mother who abandoned him.
Set in my 'Bright Future' universe which diverges from canon after season 4.

An entry in the Ancestral Tribute contest.

With the aid of her sister, Princess Cadence, and even Twilight Sparkle, the four will embark on a small adventure of a lost race which sought to give the rest of the universe eveything they could for a brighter future.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful—but Rainbow Blitz is out in it. And at two in the foundering morning, no less.
