So this is a pretty simple story I pumped out because I was in a depression-fueled journey through immortality and its repercussions after seeing the finale of the show and realizing we've been right about it all since bucking SEASON 3! But whatever, it's fine, we're all fine. Just so you know I did NOT have any proof readers or editors so if you want to point stuff out that I got wrong, I'll happily fix it. Equestria isn’t what it used to be.

The changes are too incremental for a normal pony to notice. But for Princess Twilight Sparkle, now several hundred years old, life is becoming an incomprehensible blur.

Word of a three-eyed sorcerer wielding a strange new form of magic propels the princess on a journey into the ancient wilderness of the Equestrian north. In a cabin hundreds of miles removed from civilization, Twilight grapples with the strange politics of cattle farms, the morality of infanticidal deer, and the raw memories of ponies pushed to the margins of a rapidly changing world.

A meditation on generational trauma and change.

Princess Luna was always known as the solitary princess. She spent much time in her room, attached to none else other than her sister for their trade of the heavens. She was a very lonely princess, even if it appeared that she preferred the isolation.

Twilight Sparkle found an odd book in her shipment from Princess Celestia. Hoofbound and unlabeled, reading it opens a door she cannot, and will not, close with the youngest diarch.

She will not let one of her friends hurt alone, not on her watch.

Almost a hundred years since Twilight has made her friends in Ponyville, she once again returns there with a heavy heart, unclear mission and a single friend. Things have changed a lot since then, and the very town is unfamiliar to her.
But maybe an old friend from the past would help her see that even though everything changes, perhaps nothing is truly lost.

Twilight is writing, trying her hoof at something new, something to break the haze of days blurring past. But is there truly anything new for an immortal?
