An elderly stallion stands atop a cliff, looking at the valley below, at the black clouds rising from burning shrines and temples. The temple behind him is the last one standing.

And then she arrives. The sacred Princess herself.

The warm, beaming smile that once decorated her face is gone. Her eyes do not eminate kindess, but hatred.

As he looks at her, he sees something else, something hiding beneath the flaming veil.

Sadness.

This story is a sequel to Stardust

Everyone knows the story of Hearths Warming Eve. They know the tales of the three pony tribes and how their strife brought the Windigoes upon them, and how the Fires of Friendship saved them from their frozen fates. For countless generations the tale has been told, but how has it changed over those years?

Or is any of it true in the first place?

Only one pony knows, and Celestia would prefer that the past stay forgotten.

(Based on a 'What If' line of thought that was born from the Stardust storyline. While some familiarity with Stardust and Mente Materia doesn't hurt, this story can be enjoyed on its own)

Luna is through with Celestia making excuses for why ponies don't show her the love and admiration she deserves as co-ruler of all Equestria.

But when a towering monster appears and tells Luna that she can bring her sister to heel and be properly appreciated, Luna remains wary. She is no fool like Sombra, to fall prey to the darkness.

But this "Nightmare Moon" knows too much. Who is she? Why does she bear Luna's mark? And why is she so confident about the course the future will take?

Life was looking up for the reformed Lord of Chaos. He and his new pony bride had settled into Celestia and Luna's old castle, and they were looking forward to a life of peace and happiness. Until a letter arrives from a family member who had gotten word of Discord's recent marriage. In three days time, the one being in all of Equestria that Discord fears the most will be coming for a visit. Now Discord will have to 'pony up' to his new friends, and reveal the secrets of his origins, before his centuries of strife and misdeeds finally catch up with him.

On a dark and stormy night, centuries in the past, Celestia and Luna walked into a bar.

They came looking for knowledge. They found a little more than that.

Immortals should never fall in love... at least, that's what Celestia tells herself. The young princess has recently become the ruler of Equestria, and romance is the last thing on her mind. Until she meets a certain Prench unicorn, that is. But despite a zebra invasion, courtly politics, and the pressure of leading a fractured and divided nation, Celestia will find that the greatest battle she will ever face is a mere question.

Sequel/Prequel to Her Knight in Faded Armor. Reading that story is not at all needed, and they can be read at the same time or without one another. However, it is encouraged, as they share the same canon.
