I was reading one of the stories by H. P. Lovecraft titled "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and I found a paragraph in the story that seemed like a crazy coincidence. Here is the paragraph.

'That was before the big epidemic of 1846, when over half the folks in Innsmouth was carried off. They never did quite figure out what the trouble was, but it was probably some foreign kind of disease brought from China or somewhere by the shipping. It surely was bad enough - there were riots over it, and all sorts of ghastly doings that I don't believe ever got outside of town - and it left the place in awful shape. Never came back - there can't be more'n 300 or 400 people living there now.

It would seem that H. P. Lovecraft knew about the Covid 19 pandemic long before anyone else has and he didn't even notice it.

That's... mildly terrifying. Hopefully 2021 won't include the Great Old Ones showing up.

Hopefully 2021 won't include the Great Old Ones showing up.

Considering what was going on in 2020, how do we know they didn't show up?

Maybe the Pretty Decent Old ones showed up?

It's actually pretty typical of epidemics before inoculations and vaccines became prevalent.
