Why does she push herself to the max? Some say because she wanted to able to come out on top, others say she simply thought she was good enough for it. Understandable, but it's perfectly fine to think diffrently.

I, for one, think she might have mild atychíphobia, the irrational and unwarranted fear of failure.

4749990 I think it was specifically because she percieved herself to be better than everypony else, and this was her chance to prove it. Also, much like Rainbow Dash, she's probably very self conscious, and afraid of failure if she doesn't give 110% in everything she does.
