This story deals with three types on ponies.
Royal alicorns: These alicorns are usually Luna, Celestia, and Cadences known offspring. Although there are royal alicorns outside off the princesses blood line, they are few and far between. These royal alicorns make up the house of lords in equestrian parliament (which actually works more like the U.S. sentante)
Non-royal alicorns/ Pegacorns: Pegicorns or pegies ,as I affectionately call them, can be a number of different things. An illegitimate or disinherited alicorn, an alicorn that was never a royal, or a royal alicorn that does not know it rightful place. Pegies can be bitter confused or altogether ignorant about there ancestry and breeding. Although they are rare a large number of pegies live in canterlot.
Royal and non-royal non-alicorns of alicorn decent: An example for a pony in this classification is Prince Blue Blood. When alicorns breed, an assortment of genes makes them able to produce any type of pony no matter what there partner. There is a legend that states that an alicornan mother, bearing triplets, gave birth to and reared up, the first Unicorn, Earth pony, and Pegusas.
