6986444 In Book Five Order of the Phoenix there's a subplot where Ron auditions for and gets a spot on the Griffyindor Quiditch Team (as Keeper). During the match against Slytherin he struggles, especially since Slytherin has started making up a song taunting him. Harry and Hermonie get into a fight with Draco because of this, and end up banned from Quiditich by Umbridge, leaving Ron to eventually lead Griffyindor to victory.

The plot was cut from the movie adaptation since the book turned out to be the longest in the entire series at over 800 pages.

They actually thought about making the first film three hours long and having an intermission after the first Quidditch match. It was only the seventh and final book that proved to have too many important things that they had to split it into two parts.
