Summary of the plot to get you up to date:

High school detective Shinichi Kudo, famous for solving many cases, went to an amusement park one day with his childhood friend and platonic girlfriend, Ran Mouri, where he witnessed an illegal exchange of money carried out by men dressed in black. .

With his attention focused on the exchange, Shinichi was knocked out by one of these men and forced to take a poison... which instead of killing him, shrank his body to that of a 6 year old child!!

Following the advice of his best friend, Professor Hiroshi Agasa, Shinichi decided to hide his identity to protect his loved ones, and when Ran asked him who he was, Shinichi responded under a made-up name: "Conan Edowaga".

Since Ran's father, Kogoro Mouri, is a private detective, Shinichi decides to move in with him and Ran to track down and stop the Men in Black, while solving mysteries along the way.
