Modern Rock: Third Eye Blind Classical: Franz Liszt, Erik Satie Rock: Operation Ivy, Green Day Metal: Dream Theater, Kamelot Classic Rock: The Eagles, Blue Oyster Cult
721805 Wait, really? Haha, that's funny. 721806 I listen to all of those. (Except for the Classical choices) They're just not my favorites. Classical and Metal -- really?
Well, I hate to sound pedantic but your genre list is somewhat incomplete. I'll just list the genres as I add the artists. I might've forgotten a few artists, but you should get the general idea.
EDIT: It seems that I didn't notice the part about the three-artist rule. Choose the first three out of the genre lists I've made, I suppose.
Romantic Music Gustav Mahler
Impressionism Claude Debussy Maurice Ravel
Minimalism Philip Glass Steve Reich
Hip Hop De La Soul A Tribe Called Quest Public Enemy
Progressive Rock Pink Floyd Yes Genesis (early)
Jazz Miles Davis John Coltrane Duke Ellington
Electronica Boards of Canada Aphex Twin Autechre
Ambient Global Communication The Orb The KLF
Synthpop Kraftwerk Depeche Mode
Reggae Linton Kwesi Johnson Lee Scratch Perry The Heptones
Folk Fleet Foxes King Creosote and John Hopkins Joanna Newsom
Brony Music SoGreatandPowerful sci PinkiePieSwear
Hardcore (as in, early 90's rave music) Altern 8 The Prodigy Praga Khan
722144 You've got plenty of time. Decide which ones you want and don't want. Remember, these are personal preferences, not "Name every artist you can think of with each genre."
722253 You should use the genres I have as of now. Splitting them up will not help me in any way. This applies specifically to:
Romantic Minimalistic Impressionism Progressive Rock (Would go under "Modern Rock") Synthpop Hardcore (Metal, maybe? IDK) Jungle/Drum and Bass Bass Music Funk (Would go under "R&B/Soul")
If you want to suggest a genre for the listing above, you can do so. The genre should be reasonably broad, though, and should not sub under any of the ones up there.
Infinity Shred is genre melding chiptune, post chiptune, and post rock...I think they can stay. Replace God is an Astronaut with Gorillaz, and Massive Attack is triphop
Romantic music falls under the Classical umbrella.
Impressionism and Minimalism fall under 20th Century music, which is noticeably separate to Classical. Maybe it should just not get a slot, since I doubt that many people will be fussed over a lack of it.
I'd say Progressive Rock is really more under Classic Rock than Modern, since 'classic' and 'prog' rock bands emerged and became popular at roughly the same time.
I suppose you could classify the Synthpop bands I listed as electronic.
Hardcore (read 'Rave music', not 'Hardcore Punk), and Jungle/Drum and Bass are Dance music. They're just big subgenres.
Bass Music is somewhat in-between Electronic and Dance music, in all honesty. By that I mean that it's appreciable just as electronic music, but it's also meant for dancing. Maybe you should just not include it if you want to stick to the genres you've already established. I only included it because it does reflect a big part of the music I listen to.
Feel free to include Funk with R'n'B and Soul. It's not inaccurate to do that.
The only genre suggestion I'd like to put forward is separating Dance and Electronic music. There's plenty of music made entirely electronically that isn't remotely danceable. Plus, splitting Dance from Dubstep, House, and Trance is a bit confusing. They're all just styles of dance music, really.
I'm sorry if I seem to be a bother, by the way. I just thought it'd be good to include more diversity and accuracy in this genre list.
Now let's just assume that everything above is fine and to your liking.
There is a problem regarding the max # for these ones:
Classic Rock Pink Floyd Yes Genesis (early) The Allman Brothers Band Led Zeppelin
Electronica Boards of Canada Aphex Twin Autechre Kraftwerk Depeche Mode Altern 8 The Prodigy Praga Khan Juan Atkins Derrick May Jon Convex LTJ Bukem Photek Roni Size
OK. Choose three bands from the "Classic Rock" and three from "Electronica" to keep. IS THIS BETTER!!?
Also I mentioned that IDM and EDM should be split so I agree with you there. But really all I want to push for is adding drum and bass.
Also I'd like to push that post rock should be its own genre since it has almost nothing in common with other rock genres other than the fact that both use guitars (same instrument; completely different nuances)
Post-rock is a subgenre of rock music characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock, but using rhythms and "guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures" not traditionally found in rock.
Yeah, I do get what you mean. I guess I didn't think of it from the perspective of an admin.
I choose Pink Floyd, Yes, and The Allman Brothers Band for Classic Rock. I guess I'll just cut it down to Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Kraftwerk for Electronica.
All the other choices I made, as sorted by your system, are fine. Sorry for being such a problem child.

Sure, since the old guy seems to have vanished. We'll always need someone to keep watch over groups like these, and you seem to know your organisation. I'll support you.
722811 There's a link to a blog at the top of the thread (where it says, "Refer to this"). Would you mind just saying something like "I support DJ GarV for admin" or something? Just to give myself a case when I appeal to a mod. BTW, it's "organization".

721774 You need a separate category for Gorillaz.

Rock: Celldweller, Cage the Elephant, Offspring
Brony: Kowruption
Modern rock: Muse (They also fall under the dubstep category LOLOL)

Classical and Metal -- really?
721817 Yep. At least in their newest album:
That's the rock.
721823
Which side of them do you like the most? The dubstep or the rock?
721813 Coldplay wouldn't really fit under Classical either though, unless you count hardcore classical.
721829
I'm keeping the max # of artists down to three.
So just take one off.
721817 Franz Liszt was fucking metal.
721806
There is no "Rock" section.
Did you mean "Modern Rock"?
721826 I prefer their rock stuff, and that's what they're most known for.

Invalid and confusing statement.
Did you mean, "Replace Gorillaz with God is an Astronaut"?
722655
Yeah...modern rock stays the same. Other is now: Infinity Shred, Gorillaz, and Massive Attack
722638
I'm trying to make it more generalized so it can accomodate 206 members.
You know what I mean?
Okay, If I do what you tell me to, I get this:

EDM = Electronic Dance Music
IDM = ____?_____ Dance Music
722696
In that respect, it falls under "Modern Rock".
722696
But either way I'm like
722701
Idm is "intelligent dance music" it's basically EDM's opposite. Intelligent was just a name that stuck...its not actually any smarter than EDM.
basically the difference between Aphex Twin (idm) and Deadmau5 (edm)
722715
IDM is a form of EDM.
Go figure.
722705
I guess bro...I'm just saying post rock is about as much of rock as shoegaze is...should at least be allowable under other.
722725
Why else do you think Gorillaz is under there right now?
Either way I'm not gonna make a fuss about it...its your thing and I can respect that...just sayin
722692
Yeah, I do get what you mean. I guess I didn't think of it from the perspective of an admin.
I choose Pink Floyd, Yes, and The Allman Brothers Band for Classic Rock. I guess I'll just cut it down to Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Kraftwerk for Electronica.
