Happy Anniversary to the Eighth Wonder of the World!
Happy Anniversary to the Eighth Wonder of the World!
In 2000, only one year after I first saw Godzilla, five year old me was shown a old black and white movie on VHS by my father. King Kong 1933. In a year following, I would see almost every single King Kong movie in existence at that point. The hunt wasn't as extreme as my voyage to track down every single Godzilla film, but it did take me to many of the same places and ate up other chunks of the allowance I earned via chores for my family and neighbors. Flea markets, warehouse stores, pawn
Bring King Kong in my story. He’ll receive an origin plot in his debut chapter of season five, then again at season seven. It’ll be different origins, though, but they’ll stay the same as the debut chapter of Kong.
In his debut chapter, he’s going to fight Virin, not for the title of King, but as the better Kaiju and dragon in their respective species.
For the first origin chapter of Kong, it’ll be most likely 19,000 words long, but at the same time, shorter than that.
The gorilla warfare isn't even here yet and everyone's already going ape.....
badum-pish
Okay puns aside I was asked by a few people to talk about my thoughts on the upcoming King Kong movies and do I think we're being set up for a crossover between the first rate great ape and the big gray goliath, Godzilla.
FROM THE MOUTHS OF LEGENDARY THEMSELVES!: THE TRAILER DROPS ON SUNDAY!
UPDATE: We have a trailer teaser!
Gotta say, I'm getting some big Akira Ifukube vibes from Godzilla's theme here.
Look at my boi Goji going full-on Moby Dick here! :D
This movie is gonna be fantastic.
Reviews and word-of-mouth have been predominantly positive, it is rolling in cash right now, and I am hyped beyond all reason.
I even made up a checklist of all my predictions for the movie just to see how right I was when I'm done with it. :D
Sometime after I'll write up a review here for anybody who's interested in hearing me gush about this thing.
May the best monster win. So Godzilla. :P
WARNING!
This post will contain spoilers because that's honest to goodness the only way I can really talk up a movie like this. If you're allergic to spoilers, read after you've seen the movie. If you don't give a care, read on.
Really, really hoping that this will be good.
But honestly, just the merest bits of the brawl that this trailer promises have me pretty hyped already.
Tomorrow is finally the big day. After a year of pandemic delays, seven years of the MonsterVerse, and fifty-nine years since their first meeting, Godzilla and Kong are finally ready to meet again. It’s been a long, tough road getting to this point, but so far it sounds like it’s been worth the wait.
Hail to the Kings. May the best monster win.
At long last, the GvK trailer has come, with about two months left until its final release. So based on what we've seen in the trailer and what else we know so far, I've come up with a theory on how I personally think the movie will go down. Spoilered for good measure.
Five years ago today, Michael Dougherty delivered the third entry to the MonsterVerse, reintroducing three more of Toho’s Big Five to modern-day generations.
