Some explaining to do · 3:41pm Apr 4th, 2019
Well, I've taken the plunge, and I'm glad I did, though I am wondering if I should have waited till chapter 2 was done first. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Of the three stories that I have going right now, I've decided today to do some work on "Danger Close". The next chapter though is going to be tricky, as I have to balance the actual threat from the Storm King Invasion with the tedious process that the defenders have to use in a situation of limited communications to discover the threat. The scenario kind of reminds of the Pearl Harbor attack, where a fairly vague warning was delayed due to telegraph issues, while an actual warning was ignored
I'm starting to make some real progress on my story "Danger Close" (unfortunately I'm still stalled out on "The Blue and the Grey") and I've already got almost two thousand words into the next chapter. My latest move is to find a possible new use for Daring Doo. She appeared early in my story, but I haven't worked her in very much since. The idea I had was for her is to possibly pursue a potential gamer changer in regards to the Storm King and the invasion, pretty much a nuclear option. There
I've been slowly moving forward on Chapter 2, and I've come up with an idea. I'm wondering if just maybe the story would work if I used "Saddle Row Review" as a source of inspiration. Of course, it would have to be quite different, and the interview format wouldn't be able to catch all the details, but it just might make the introduction of so many new details easier. Has any other author tried to use this template? I'd love to know how it worked for them.
I have finally moved forward on "The Blue and The Gray", though it's a big one, over 5000 words. I've never written a chapter that long before, and I have to wonder if the length will be a turnoff. I know that it has been an issue for me at times, but I really don't have an editor to help me par it down, and I have no idea if it could be shortened and keep it's meaning. So, lets see how it's received.
Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and submitted the first chapter of my next story, which I titled "Danger Close". I was waiting to finish the second chapter since it is dealing with a lot of new background, but changed my mind. I guess the whole idea that the final season is starting this weekend made me want to push forward. So hopefully I'll get her approved and we'll see if anyone salutes the flag I've run up.
So... This was kind of a weird month for me. I've been really thinking about my own past and what it means for certain of stories that I'm writing and the characters therein. Especially with the release of the latest chapter of The Last Vacation, when something everyone has guessed long since by now gets revealed, and Twilight faces a difficult choice.
