A couple of days ago I finished chapter 16 of The Seven Trials, after two weeks of work. It turned out to be quite short, at a measly 4400 words, and was quite cooperative throughout, and was all in all a very pleasant experience.

Been a while since I did one of these. So here’s the big thing: after three months of work I completed chapter 15 of The Seven Trials of Clover the Clever! It ended up at a hefty 21k words, making it the longest single chapter in any story I’ve yet written (breaking the record set by chapter 7 of the same story at 19500 words). It was very complicated and very difficult to write and since I finished it last week I have been very exhausted.

It's been a busy time here. Last month was difficult. After being quite productive on The Seven Trials all year I decided it was time to put in some work on the next chapter of Crown of Night. And then I banged my head against the wall on that for basically all of May, and at the end of the month I had next to nothing to show for it. In despair, I decided I had given it the old college try and went back to TST instead.

Which means that for every month this year I've hit a "Complete some sort of draft thing by the middle of the month" productivity milestone. In January it was the last chapter of The Crown of Night, then Seven Trials chapter 10, then two drafts of chapter 11.

I have finished the first draft of chapter 9 of The Seven Trials of Clover the Clever! I managed to get it in before the end of the month, which was my big goal. It came in at a hefty 19k words, just 500 words short of the longest chapter so far, and that puts the whole story now at 80k words.
