This story is a sequel to If You Want To Go, I Won't Stop You.

After the events of If You Want To Go, I Won't Stop You, some suffered more than others. Decisions were made, a certain five girls and three kids are never going to see their home again, and there will be a lot to adjust to.

In days long past, the civilizations of the world engaged in long, hard-fought wars lasting decades, and in some cases even centuries. These ancient nations and their enmities have faded into the distant past, leaving behind a legacy of crater-pocked battlefields; forgotten ruins; and highly advanced, animal-like war machines known as Zoids.
In the modern era, the world’s population is divided among far-flung, independent city-states separated by vast stretches of uninhabited territory. These cities are united by satellite communication, trade, and the Zoid Battle Commission. Ambitious leaders gather talented Zoid pilots into teams in order to participate in the Commission’s organized and highly-regulated combat engagements, all in the hopes of winning fame and fortune on the battlefield. Zoid battles have become the most popular form of entertainment in the world, and the services and industries required by Zoid teams drive the economies of whole cities. This is the story of Sunset Shimmer, her friends, and their adventures in the industry of professional Zoid combat.

The angry and broken Sunset Shimmer ("The Demon") and scared and extremely powerful runaway Apple Bloom ("Rogue") are recruited by The X-Mares, a group of "Hu-Mares" with mutations that make them remarkable. But can they save a world that hates them when Discord, The Master of Manipulation, plans to turn the world's leaders into "Hu-Mares"?

Celestia Aldrich is a "Hu-Mare" with incredible mental powers, a speaker for the rights of her kind, and a party animal who doesn't quite understand the gravity of her fight. Bob Smith is a "Hu-Mare" with the power to bend reality itself, hellbent on revenge against a world that took his mother, took his life, took his soul. These two very different "Hu-Mares" meet and form the first class of the "X-Mares", with the hope of stopping a mad woman from destroying the world, and perhaps of convincing that same world they are not the enemy. But fate may have other plans...

Starfire is the dutiful assistant to Principal Celestia. Rarely seen by the student body, he works hard to one day become a Principal himself and do his school proud. One day, Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna offer him a chance to take a walk in the shoes of a Principal. Of course, as he will quickly find out, this walk won't be done in the typical fashion. Life in CHS, after all, is far from typical.

Rarity is the most popular girl at Canterlot High but she has a secret that no one else knows about. That is she is a tomboy and she also has a crush on Spike but once he finds out her secret he accepts it.

This story is a sequel to Back To School. It draws most upon the events of Twilight Sparkle Was Shot, When All Your Wishes Are Granted, and Reunions and Laments.

A few months ago, at the beginning of summer, Twilight Sparkle was shot in a mall. She survived. Now, the authorities have captured the perpetrator. Twilight is quite surprised to hear this. But then, so is the young lady who shot her.

The only way to prevent an innocent girl from being punished in her stead is for Sunrise Shimmer to return to the human world and confess. But she has made friends and family since that fateful day. Princesses, teenage musicians, ponies, and even Twilight Sparkle herself.

Both of them.

And they’re not letting her go without a fight.

Chronology note: this story takes place towards the beginning of Season Six. In this timeline, Starlight is not Twilight’s apprentice.
