Mudpony

Confound these wretched equines! For every one I fling away, a dozen more vex me!

We judge others on things we know. Alula knows flight.

There is more to life than flying though, and what she does not know just might cost her Diamond Tiara.

hmm, the premise shows promise and the execution isn't that bad at all. Let's see where this goes?

*Grins and claps gently* Very sweet. I love the idea that DT isn't so terrible underneath and Silver being so amused by Alula's antics was a perfect fit.

Also the link in your author's note isn't formatted right ^^;

Thanks. And fixed.

Alula was accidently racist to her girlfriend.

"Her garden?" Alula asked. "She has a garden?"
"Almost every earth pony does, my dear. Not Zecora, though. She has nothing and should be pitied."

If anyone's turning the "what it means to be an earth pony" theme into a thing, I cannot imagine how it wouldn't be you. Normally I don't like reading background ponies because they're never given a real personality, but I think you made it work here. My only question is why they changed schools to one that has a hallway.

*starts jotting down ideas for "A Zebra Thing"*

My only question is why they changed schools to one that has a hallway.

While the outside is designed to bring to mind the small town with a single classroom for all ages feel, I've always felt that that is not the case. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo were unknown to Apple Bloom prior to "Call of the Cutie". So what class were they in? Maybe they were in another school, but then why would DT invite them? The foals in the class also seem to be about the same age, which leads one to ask where the other classes are, for other ages. Then there is the matter of access to the bell and facilities such as bathrooms.

So pretty much the show only needs the one classroom, but my headcanon says there should be more, and so there are, because I want a hallway! Or maybe it is like Twi's library, bigger on the inside than the outside. :scootangel:

2741236 lol oh to be young again :p
Kids say things they know, and they try to judge the mood of what others accept and reject. Alula processed that information as any kid would and tried to one-up and gain some extra points.

And then racism happened. lol I loved that scene.

AlulaXDiamond Tiara is quickly beginning to replace ApplebloomXDiamond Tiara as my favourite ship. It's just so cute.

Wonderful story :pinkiehappy:

So Lula's OK with Diamond Tiara being beastly to the CMC for no real reason? :trixieshiftright:

That aside, this was nicely constructed and perfectly adorable.

Nope, she isn't, hence her comment about them not being that bad, but she doesn't want to upset her friends by protesting too strongly, especially when DT is a bit wound up. Yay peer pressure. Plus the CMC did just bonk her on the head with a football, so Diamond being upset is a bit more reasonable than normal.

And of course, needs of the story. :scootangel:

Thanks.

Fair enough, I suppose. I was just kinda surprised that Alula seemed, well, less conflicted than I expected about her girlfriend being an unrepentant bully. I do like the idea of DT being a sort of waspish tsundere, though.

Love is blind and that is why it trips on rocks, along its own path.:facehoof:
Cute read.:scootangel::heart:

So that was unexpectedly adorable, and maybe just a little bit profound. You have my upvote, sir.

Thanks. Using cuteness to get people thinking a bit was what I hoping the story would achieve, though I'm good with people just enjoying the story as well :twilightsheepish:

3064282 Heh. But yeah, while other fics have touched on the whole 'Equestrian variant of racism' thing before, this one seems to get it across particularly well, somehow,. (Despite or because of the fact that it was unintentional on Alula's part...) So yeah, well done.

This was really well done. Everything was completely believable, and I really love how you expanded on these characters.

Well, almost everything. I think you made Silver's use of "like" just a tiny bit overly prominent. By contrast, you didn't seem to use DT's favorite word, "totally" at all.

Thanks. The more I dabble with these characters, the more I love all of them. Alula in particular has grown on me as she has become more defined in my head canon.

Speech-wise, I think that's because I base Silver's speech mostly on Call of the Cutie, where she does use "like" a lot (four times, and in one scene, in two out of three lines), as well as an "I mean" and so on. So I give her the Valley Girl speak, including the use of "totally", even though CotC is the only episode she does that. Though it's been, like, a while since I looked at this story, so possible I did, like, go overboard. :scootangel: Maybe I'll take a look at it sometime in the future (busy editing First Snow right now).

Diamond, on the other hand, uses "totally" twice in that episode, and never again. She has Ponyville Confidential*, an episode where she talks quite a bit, so easy to avoid using it for her. But I will make it a point now to have Diamond use "totally" sometime in a future story, just because of your comment. :raritywink:

*Silver Spoon so needs a chance to play lead antagonist!

Alula, you clueless foal...

"Her garden?" Alula asked. "She has a garden?"

"Almost every earth pony does, my dear. Quite proud of it she is too. And protective. She will not let anyone else help her tend it."

Wait till you see Cheerilee's Garden...

2742156 Au contraire. The entire Everfree is her garden, and it eats little ponies who try to mess with it :twilightoops:
