That is an interesting take on Derpy Hooves' past. I am assuming that the special feature that Derpy was mentioning in the beginning was her ability to buck storm clouds? Or was it her connection to the storm? As Derpy would say, "I just don't know what went wrong."

244872 Well, I was going more for shipping Derpy with thunderclouds, but I suppose it could be taken as her having a fetish for electrocution. Feel free to interpret it that way, the whole story is told from first person deliberately to leave a few things open to interpretation :)
244887 The bit Derpy mentions about being special is basically her connection to the Storm, knowing what it is like to share her being with something primal, immortal, and fleeting.
I'm glad you guys have enjoyed this, it was fun to write. I hope to use this interpretation of Derpy some more, if I can find a good story for it or a way to add some chapters to this one.

I don't think there's a word requirement for stories. I have a habit of writing fairly succinctly, I'm always afraid of boring the reader with details nobody cares about, so in this story, like many others I've done in the past, I put only stuff I felt was directly pertinent to the story.
The sequel to this, Storm Chasing, is an experiment of mine to change that, to try and be more verbose and add in more details about the characters that may not be strictly relevant. I'm not sure whether that's making it better or worse, but at least I can pass 1000 words a chapter doing that.

There was a minimum 1000 word requisite when I uploaded mine... The upload system wouldn't let me publish the story until there was at least 1000 words, so I had to append part of chapter two into chapter one.
That was a few weeks ago granted, but still, I recently listened to someone get rather frustrated in the IRC that he couldn't finish his chapter because it was only 770 words.
That's what has me so baffled.

It's debatable. One of the points of the story is that we're only seeing her side of things. As far as Derpy is concerned, she has an intimate relationship with the storm that's far closer than she could have with any other pony. She believes the storm pleasures her like nothing else can, and at the same time that it is the only thing that truly understands her.
Of course, like I said: It's debatable. When you account for Derpy being an unreliable narrator, a number of other possibilities open up. Maybe she just has an electrocution fetish. Maybe her brain is scrambled from being electrocuted, and she's simply insane. Maybe the physical changes from the storm (Her partial blindness and lazy eye) have made her feel isolated, and in trying to cope she latched onto the idea that the storm did this because it loves her.
Anyway, I'll check out the reading later. I'm a little surprised, as I've never had somebody do a reading of anything of mine before... and I'm a little scared it'll be a dramatic reading of a terribad fic. Oh well, one way to find out.
To be truthful, I don`t think it serves under the sex tag, other than the word 'lust' being used. Great backstory though!
