Darius Mahoney is a 19 year-old army sergeant, who, after a brief taste of battle in the ever-growing wars for Africa, arrives back in his home town to enjoy several weeks’ leave. Choosing to ignore the pressuring demands of his father, he volunteers to continue on with the allied war campaigns throughout the winter months.

Seeking an escape from the ire of his father, which is sure to ensue, he ventures out into the northern Canadian wilderness, in an ultralight to central Québec, to be with his one and only passion. Little does he know that what he finds there will change his life, and the world, forever…

This seems like an interesting story.

JBL

Nineteen year old army sergeant? :unsuresweetie: I don't know much about the army, but I don't know if someone so young could. Not saying yea or nay, I just don't know.

4249896 You can. In Canada, it's 16 for the reserves or military collage, 17 for regular forces with parental consent, and 18 without. A sergeant can be either an aid to a lieutenant, who commands a platoon of 24, or the commander of a section of 8. In this case though, his rank is referencing the latter

4262641 Have yet to read, but yup. It's true. Also nice to see a fellow Canadian here.

4417212 Thanks bud; a little taste of my philosophical thinking. Also you should check out the Canuck groups I'm in.

4446751 If you're making fun of me for that 'bud', I was quoting that 'Out for a Rip' video (also highly recommended, to anyone reading this).

4457661 I'm not making fun of you, just being friendly

Ah, I love the references to the places and how this story is going!

Very interesting chapter

4458369 Yeah, I wanted it to be really relatable to the reader, so I put a lot of geographical context. And Chapter 5 should be coming out shortly, with any luck.

*** I would like to ask everyone who is currently reading La Montagne Québécoise to follow me as well, so that I can update you on issues concerning the story via blog rather than author's notes. I will not be wasting your time; if I blog in relation to the story it will be for good reason. I would also recommend you read the last blog and address what you can from it ***

4552787 Surprised I wasn't following you already

4558331 Qu'est-ce que tu veux dire? Je ne comprends pas.

4567087 It's a swear word. It's like saying "Well fuck" or "damn". I said that because I was surprised to see my home province in this.:twilightsheepish:

4567157 Oh, I read that as "Good fuck". Figure of speech I guess.

Je me souviens. I am a souvenir.

Though I have to ask, all the ponies in this story are anthro?

A lire plus tard juste parce que WOO QUEBEC! UNE P'TITE BUDWEISER A TOUTE LA GANG!

4572292 Are you even Québécoise?

4570059 I don't understand the question.

4576116

"Ah, sweet! A story that takes place in Canada! My nigga! Wait, anthro? Real shame."

4576116

Non, tsé. J'viens juste d'inventer une phrase qui sonnait bien en français et j'les collé sur un commentaire XD

Serieusement, oui, je suis québecoise. Gatinoise pour plus de précision.

4576161 Am I missing something here? What's supposed to be wrong with anthro stories? Because when I clicked on that tag in creating this, I was pretty sure it was referring to the 'the study of humanity' version. More specifically, in this story's sense, sociocultural anthropology.

What I meant by the tag was that this story will have allusion to some major social and cultural issues in today's society, and how it affects main character.

If there's some kind of stereotype surrounding them, please let me know; I've only been on Fim for three months, and I don't read that much.

4589757

Oh, well that's good to hear. The Anthro tag is for furries, basically. Stupid Human/Pony bodily mixes and shit.

4590019 Oh crap, I just Wikipedia-ed that. Apparently the tag stands for anthromorphics, not anthropology, which isn't what I was going for at all (tag now removed).

*** I'd just like to remind everybody to please follow me, if you are reading this story; or at least read the blog posts that are attached to it ***
