Godamnit Yankee.

Assassin Octavia?

5343091 I hope the end was at least a little surprising.

WUT
That. Was. Twisting!

Wow, a pony actually named Femme Fatale.

Maybe she defied expectations and grew up to become a monogamous, law-abiding housewife.

I think the subplot about the Chief being corrupt could have been handled a bit better. Shining, Private Eye, and Red Tape seem to jump from "This guy claims he's pals with our boss," to "Holy carp, our boss is totally corrupt," a little too quickly.

I like that big twist at the end. I sorta saw it coming, in that when the cops found the bloody knife and blackmail letter, I thought "That's a little too convenient. I wonder if someone framed Sodium?" But the identity of the real murderer still took me by surprise.

Great twist - I didn't saw it coming. (Maybe it could be tagged Thriller/Mystery?)

7938409 It probably should. It came out before those tags were available: I'll fix that right away.

7938436 Really looking forward to see more mystery stories from you (I wonder one with Derpy as a Columbo-like detective :raritywink:)

7938472 There's been a mystery story I've had bouncing around my head for well over a year now, but I've never been able to make it work.

That said, if ever I do write another, I'll have had a lot of time to think about it.

Well-written, an interesting take on Shining's character, and an intriguing hook. You have my attention.

Just one thing:

Schwartz didn't seem to be lying,..

I believe you mean Doctor Black.
