Everypony has dreams. Some dream of superpowers. Others dream of fame and respect. Still others dream of creature comforts, or of achieving long-sought goals.

But what sort of dream can stop the Tantabus?

she observed.

You're dead to me.

passing by on wings made from the bones of her enemies as she rained blackfire upon the Tantabus.

Forgiven.

That was sweet and funny.

Also, "baking."

Sometimes it's the little wishes that make the biggest difference. :ajsmug:

Good moral, good story too.

Technically, it's spelled Tantibus.

But that's really the only flaw here.

You don’t need to eat in dreams!” thundered Minuette, passing by on wings made from the bones of her enemies as she rained blackfire upon the Tantabus.

This is the greatest sentence I've read in a long time.

Minuette is so wonderfully enthusiastic, about everything really.

“You’re a pegasus,” Carrot Top said, eyebrow arching. “You can already do those things.”
“Yeah, but in my dreams, I can do them while I’m big!”

Impeccable logic.

That was a surprisingly meaningful ending given the zaniness of the rest of the fic.

Glad you all enjoyed! Thank you for commenting, and for reading!

"These said-isms bother me immensely," M opined. "Why can't you stick with 'said,' and maybe 'asked?'"

"Because," Chris chortled, "it amuses me to see you frown."

"Well in that case, you've failed, for your later writing made me grin again," M rebutted.

"So it seems," Chris acknowledged, "so it seems."

They're best friends, okay?

BEST. FRIENDS.

That's always been my experience. The simplest things are often the most important.

Thank you!

For some reason (trademark-related, maybe? I have no idea) the "official" spelling is Tantabus. I guess Luna's Latin isn't any better than her Early Modern English...

6194805

Isn't it, though? I tell you, Minuette may always be smiling, but it's a dang creepy grin if you ask me.

Derpy can logic real good, thank you very much. Also, I am seemingly incapable of not ending with a moral or "meaningful" conclusion of some sort (meaningful in intent, at least, if not always in execution); I guess that's my calling card as an author, as much as anything is.

Well, then it seems you've found the right place to do it.

(And also 6193967 ) Unrelated to this story, but though I have a higher tolerance for said-isms than M, I was recently surprised and disappointed to discover that "smiled" is, in fact, a speaking verb (per M-W). :raritydespair:
(And yes, Minuette was a high point of the story.)

So...so did Luna defeat the Tantabus, or did the Tantabus win and the Equestria where everything is back to normal just Carrot Top's dream???

And does that mean from now on the entire series takes place inside Carrot Top's dream where everything worked out while the real Equestria we've been watching until now has been plunged into eternal horror and despair?

What a conundrum! :twilightoops:

Funny and sweet at the same time. Nice!

Carrot Top needs to check if her totem is still spinning...

Now I really want a t-shirt showing an extra-adorable Colgate with skeletal wings

“Yeah, but in my dreams, I can do them while I’m big!”

Cute and funny story.

Where the comedy tag at, Chris? This needs it. I chortled. I chuckled. I may have even guffawed.

All I can express is::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::heart:

Where's the comedy tag? This was hilarious! :D

This was both funny and... remarkably sweet. Well DONE!

Minuette is best eldritch horror.

That was funny and sweet... and I will never think of Minuette the same way again. In fact, I am adjusting my headcannon as I type this.

I don't know if I should be thankful or annoyed by that.

Regardless, nice story.

Of course not! I mean, not "from now on"; it has been taking place there since the second episode.

Normal is the new Epic. Thanks for saving us, Carrot Top. :yay:

Sometimes there is nothing wrong with normal is a pretty weird lesson. Usually it's there is nothing wrong with being different.

There are plenty of situations where being normal it's generally a bad thing; but I guess it's true that even in those situations being normal might be okay for there is an exception to just about every rule.

I reviewed this story as part of Read It Later Reviews #56.

My review can be found here.

What an excellently adorable story! I am really fond of the ending, and the "honestly I'm just here to see how it all plays out" attitude of Lily. In fact, all of the ponies reactions were uniquely entertaining.

Interesting and entertaining in equal measure. You've seen the full review, but I'd better actually give you your like!
