6373245 Word of God is not the same as canon. Canon is strictly things that happen in the show proper. Side projects related to the show like comics and movies are soft-canon, and can be outright Jossed by hard-canon. Word of God is simply the show creator stating something, but the show itself can still trump Word of God.
