A Charles Dickens story retold with ponies?

Umm, dude this is Equestria Girls. :rainbowderp:

Eh, close enough for me. (I was looking for an excuse to use "Bah! Humbug!" anyway; sorry!)

Pretty good, though I feel like you're trying to emulate Charles Dickens' original dialogue WAY too much, to the point where I'm thinking aloud "There's no way this character would talk like this in today's era, given their personality or way of talking". Not that that makes the story bad, far from it, I love A Christmas Carol. Just try to write this dialogue how you think these characters would say it in their own way.

I'm so excited for the next chapter! :pinkiehappy:

This is a good concept, but the dialogue makes it feel more like Dickens with pony characters rather than a Pony Christmas Carol. I'd suggest making the dialogue more modern but keeping the rest of the concept as it is.

Fluttershy is the ghost of Christmas Past? I'd expect it to be someone who she knew, not the element of kindness.

Well, finally sat down and read this about a week after Christmas, and I have to say...this isn't bad.

It needs editing, yeah, but it isn't bad.

I think it's funny how Fluttershy is the ghost of Christmas past.

I never really read the Christmas Carol but I do love this version

Well, she is kindness after all.

The story looks good, but you should maybe make the dialogue sound more modern.

I would probably change a few things from this, just to make it a bit more original, but overall it's pretty good.

YES!!!!! DO IT MIDNIGHT!!!!! GIVE HER THE KARMA SHE DESERVES! Great chapter.

I like this part, but I'm wondering how and if Sunny Flare's father/Cinch's ex-husband or boyfriend plays a role in her reason for hating Christmas.

OMG SO cool... I think I screamed too at one point

Woah this is a whole nother side to scary lady cinch... I can't wait to see what'll happen next!

indeed, just like the Disney version of the Christmas carol, very well done.

Too much like the original story. ☹

The bell of Canterlot City's church tolled a deep, dull, hollow, melancholy One, drawing her attention from her thoughts.

The bell of the church stroke One again...

Cinch looked up from her work at the source of the voice. It was her daughter, Sunny Flare with a genuine and innocent smile.

Huh, wasn't expecting to see cinch having a daughter in this story or it being sunny flare for that matter. But eh. It's still good enough. 😊

"What else can I be when I live in such a world of fools as this one?" Cinch coldly asks. "Christmas is nothing but a waste of valuable education for the reputation of Crystal Prep Academy. Every idiot who goes about with "Merry Christmas" on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart."

That is just rude! :twilightangry2:

Cinch expression didn't change, not even a bit. But she gotta admit that was quite a speech.

It sure was. :ajsmug:

"Oh, I'll see you all..." Cinch said before giving her a icy glare. "I'll see you all in hell."

I I can't believe she said that, especially to her own daughter! 😨😱:fluttershysad::fluttercry::raritycry:

"Twenty five years dead. I was the only the person who came to your funeral," Cinch reflected.

Damn, that's just sad. 😢

There before her was a sixteen years old girl with cream yellow skin, cyan eyes and long pink hair, and she was clad in a white dress gown with a floral crown on her head. The expression of her face was full of patience, understanding and kindness.

Huh, ngl I think fluttershy was a good choice/pick as the ghost of Christmas past. :ajsmug:

The face of the spirit saddened a little. "He died young on Christmas."

That is just so sad. :fluttercry:

"And now, Sunny Flare is... The only family... I still have," Cinch said as she closed her eyes, letting the tears roll over her face. "If Gewitzt were alive when she was born, he would be... Happy."

He sure would. :fluttershysad:

"Forgive me, Gewitzt! Forgive me!" Cinch cried as she kneeled down. "I broke your promise!"

Indeed you did. 😠

There was no doubt about it. On top of the giant throne of food, there was Lemon Zest, a student from Crystal Prep and member of the Shadowbolts. However, she was different and by different, she was wearing a green robe bordered with white fur. Her feet were bare, she had a holly wreath on her head and was holding a glowing torch.

She fits the picture perfectly if you ask me. :ajsmug:

It was none other than the female students from Canterlot High, or as we know them as the Rainbooms and three girls of about ten years old. However, and much to Cinch's dismay, they were with the Shadowbolts and a blue girl with ponytail that Cinch couldn't recognize.

I'm guessing that girl is sonata probably.

"I don't think she was mean," Sour Sweet softly said, but then her face turned sour. "She was an crazy, old whinny witch!"

That's precisely another way to call Cinch's attitude if you ask me. 😏

Present turned to look at Cinch. "As you can see, even if you disagree with your daughter and hate her friends, she still loves you."

That's family for ya. :scootangel:

"The only think I can say is Principal Cadence is doing a better job than her," Trenderhoof said.

And I'm sure she did after cinch lost her role as principal in the eqg series following the friendship games. :ajsmug:

There flying above her was noneother than Midnight Sparkle with a evil smirk on her face.

:pinkiegasp:

https://m.

"Hello," Cinch said after a few moments of silence. "I... I came as you asked," then her face turned into one of regret. "I hope everyone of you can forgive an old codger like me. I'm sorry for what happened at the Friendship Games."

Glad to know she is know a changed woman. :ajsmug:

Everyone smiled and nodded in agreement. Even Sugarcoat and Sour Sweet who, of all the girls, had the most friendly smile.

Had a feeling those two would forgive her. :scootangel:

"Merry Christmas, Cadence!" Cinch gleefully said before pulling Cadence into a hug.

Huh, didn't expect her to give cadance a hug. 😯

True to her word, Cinch changed for the good. She did everything she said she would and much more. The changes that Cinch made affected a lot of people including her students. She was able to make amends with Twilight Sparkle and she forgave the principal.

Thank you!

Clever use of the original language of the novella.
There is a moment at the end of the first stave that not many people know about. When Scrooge looks outside his window after Marley departs, he sees all sorts of ghosts, all wrapped in chains, and one particular spirit wailing at a beggar woman and her infant on the streets that he could have helped them.
I only saw this in the 2009 adaptation, but that is an image that never left me. There's an illustration in the novella of it too.
