While the rest of Ponyville sleeps, Rainbow Dash asks herself a question she has been avoiding for a long time. Does her life have a meaning?
AUTHORS NOTE: This fic is relatively short, but has a deep meaning and a direct relation to my own life. Just recently, I went through a strange phase of depression, unbelonging and unimportance. However, I eventually was able to overcome this phase, and chose to leave this fic as a reminder to anyone out there who reads it. EVERYONE MATTERS! Even when you feel like you don't. Never give up on yourself or everyone else will give up you too.

the moment she mentioned her element, I didn't need to finish the story.
She blinked a few timesm trying as hard as she could to hold back tears. This turning poin in her life had had such a large impact, nopony else could even begin to contemplate it.
other than that, nothing really stood out.
It was a bit brief and I'm not sure if she explored it to the extent I did in my own "what's the point of life?" phase but the conclusion is roughly the same. What's the point of doing anything if you're not doing it for others? If you're not trying to improve the flow of happiness not only yourself but everyone else as well? In the end, the only reward for positive action in this world is shared happiness and love so that means that if you use the five elements then you will get the sixth (theme of very first MLP show!) which is friendship, a constant source of meaningful happiness and purpose and THAT is the point of life.
lol first story line in MLP gives the meaning of life to everyone in explicit detail, who knew? Totally will use that on every hater I meet now.
Not a bad story. Certainly we all have had to come to grips with such thoughts.
Though this was short, it means a lot. I like that you chose Rainbow Dash, because she acts strong but has some serious issues deep down.

And the story, it was pretty good since you choose Dash and with her she does act all tough and all but on the inside shes a Rarity....I mean a marshmalow....I mean a softie.

I don't mean to get all sappy, and I do know the internet can hold many lies, but I , if I may say, struggled with the same question in life. I may be only 15, but I did not know my purpose in life. It was almost as if I felt I was just a breathin waste of time. I fell into a deep depression and I began to see my friends less, talk less, even eat and sleep less. It was a Sunday, and I was alone in my house except for my thoughts. I received a text from my friend and we txted back and forth quite a bit for about 2 hours just talking mostly of this fanbase and of ponychan. It was then it hit me. The awkwardest most strangest boy I knew was coming out of his shell. Then I thought back to an older FiM episode with Pinkie, you know, the one where she tries to befried Cranky Doodle Donkey, yeah. I remembered her song and then I open my eyes to the meaning of it. My job, and my special skill even when I was younger was making friends. It did not matter whether or not we had nothing in common, or that person could have even bullied me in an earlier time, I would always stretch my hand out to a friend in need. My purpose in life is to make my friends smile and bring joy to their lives.

Sorry for really long comm. just wanted to give a message to the writer and all those who read this in the future. To those of you, you are not alone, there are others just like you out there struggling with the same question in life. The irony of me writing this is just histerical. All this sappy stuff coming from a guy with the competitive, gently cocky personality of Rainbow Dash

My ONE issue with this fic is that RD considers the Wonderbolt's behavior at the gala to be enough to break her dream.
But it was still good enough for me to fave.
