But everypony is afraid of something, even Rainbow Dash, and Twilight is determined to find out just what her friend is afraid of. For... uh... science!

This was fun. In addition to several good laughs, I looked up the little guy in question. Freakin' adorable. Further, it actually follows. As I understand it, the reason spiders are such a common phobia in humans is that their appearance triggers that 'alien, avoid!' response at the instinctive level. For a pegasus that grew up in Cloudsdale and probably never saw one before adulthood this could easily be even more pronounced. ...Wait, a comedy involving Discord, Twilight on a crazy science experiment, Fluttershy solving the problem, and the problem actually made sense? ...Huh... have a well-deserved upvote.

Arachnophobia to an extent. I'm fine with small spiders. Any bigger than a golf ball I'm gone!

I sort of acted like Twilight one day. I was on TVTropes and ran across... I don't even remember. That site's a total time sink. Something about fear. Two hours later I'd read about dozens of phobias. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is by far my favorite. Seriously, who came up with that? "Hmmm... I need to make a word for the fear of long words... I know! I'll make up the third longest word in the english language to describe it!" It pretty much guarantees if you have it, you'll suffer if you think about the word that describes it. That's some next level trolling right there.

This was a fun and entertaining read, and I could easily see this becoming a full episode, with a few tweaks.

Though I have a nitpick with the beginning section of the story.
This probably falls under "Suspension of Disbelief", but I don't really see how a bomb the way the CMC built it could be created in Equestria.

Old plunger type with wires and dynamite? That sort of stuff existed along side trains, cowboys, and claim jumpers. Pretty much a staple of old westerns. What type were you thinking of?
