When a magic castle pops up in the middle of private property, it spells nothing but trouble. Ponies sue over damages to property values, the plumbing infrastructure is non-existent, and the insurance rate for a disaster magnet town like Ponyville is through the roof, without even considering it being made of crystals. It's a total nightmare and it all costs money.
Twilight found herself face-to-face with such a curse. While she has managed for such a long time, she has discovered her castle is infested with the worst possible thing of all. Friends. Gathering for a summit, Twilight is about to lay down the love and tolerance down on her friends. Shenanigans ensue.

I feel like this story deserves a 'random' tag honestly. Cake monsters, Wonderbolts passing through the castle, a 12 foot long Gummy, Applejack: mother of all trees, the list goes on. Delicious randomness at its finest

Twilight's qualifications of becoming princess of friendship were always dubious for someone who only briefly started to understand friendship in comparison with someone like Pinkie Pie, so it is sort of a comic reversal. Rainbow Dash is the super athletic fastest flyer in Equestria, but nobody ever thinks about smelly she must get after beating her wings so fast. Applejack has two major fixations: Apples and family. Over a Barrel was a great episode because it brought the two together, I just took that idea and ran with it. Rarity, to me, has always seemed like the most dramatic and crazy one who hides behind a veil of the debonair. It is just a matter of removing the things that holds her world together, like her hair and cleanliness. Gummy got bigger because alligators get rather big, and I wanted to play around with it. Who knows? Maybe he is actually a dragon and he just claimed all of the bathtubs for himself. The wonderbolt was appropriate because they were having a godzilla moment.
It's not random, it's surreal. Calling a story random makes it sound like it doesn't know what it's doing.
7498989 Twilight cheats in this respect. She is the straight man throughout the fic, which pretty much means that she is captain of the team. She gets all the glory. Everybody did pretty well though in my opinion.
I would have paid good money to actually get to watch Gummy's and The Cake Golem's fight!

Strange is certainly what I go for. It is no good if it is done to death. No use in beating a dead horse. I like coming up with weird stuff that sticks in the mind by embracing the oddities. I've been told I have a penchant for absurdist surrealism.

I was sitting in the shower the other day and I got really pissed because I realized I could have made a terrible pun out of "THE CAKE IS A-LIIIIIIIIIVE~." Oh well. At the very least I can take solace in knowing the true reason for the "Slice of Life" tag is hilariously more literal than it usually is. Poor cake monster. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the cake battle. It was one of those moments that happened organically in the fic and I was cracking up for days when I realized I could make it happen. I too would pay money to watch it happen.

I usually think of my writing as passionately wet humor, but hey, humor is all about perspective. It might be fun for me to give it a read through with a bit more dead pan. That is what is great about humor, it is trying to share a method of viewing the world, and even so, there is a lot of serendipity in it. It really is a drop of truth. I figured it was a nice ending to tie together the fic like it was an episode. A crazy, off the wall, season 1 episode. In the original draft of the story I included a response letter from Celestia that went a little like this.

This was a blast to read, Twilight was a great straight man-er, mare, to everyone's unique brand of crazy, and it had me laughing all throughout. My favorite bit had to be a tie between Rarity's delusional cafe dreams the drama therein and Gummy vs the Cake golem that may have gotten Pinkie kicked out of the Cake's home.

A little late to the response, but I'm glad you liked it. It was really fun to sit down and write this one, I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but it just evolved as I wrote it. I wanted to capture the feeling of the cast and give them all a fair shake for comedy. I blame my unhealthy obsession with the show community.
