Fifteen years and four kids later, Sunset and Wallflower feel their married and family life beginning to wane. In an effort to reconnect, Wallflower suggests that the family makes a trip to the land of Sunset's birth.
Submission to Oroboro's Sunset Shipping Contest: Journeys. Details here.
Written with love for my parents, who are celebrating 30 years of marital something.
This was adorable and amazing
This is certainly pretty cute, and a believable portrait of two parents-of-four. The kids are developing well as characters: I like Starburst and Even. The parents are clearly parents who're still in love with each other... But I'm not seeing much to show me that these are Sunset and Wallflower. They might as well be OCs based on what we've seen so far. There's none of Wallflower's snark or awkwardness or social aversion - not even any sign so far of her affinity for plants; and precious little sign of any distinguishing traits of Sunset Shimmer either.
This is one of the difficulties of writing time-skipped fiction: either the characters risk being unrecognisable, or they risk seeming like no time has passed.
I'll keep reading to see where you going with this, but I felt I should mention this issue that's been striking me since chapter 1 and hasn't been addressed yet.

Yeah, that was a real problem in writing this. I had imagine them not just as all grown up (20 years later), but how they may have been changed by their kids and each other.
You had me at "I pooped". XD
Wow, they have a frickin' butler. <.< I am dearly gratified as to who "Grandma" is in this story.
I guess Flurry would be grown up now, huh? Hadn't thought of that. :D Domestic Celestia gives me life.
If I'm gonna read slice of life, I want it to be like this. :)
