Quite a few people like the alicorn as prey, so this is often reflected. The whole princess title seems to carry that with.
Though there are of course many who also prefer the alicorns as pred, but most art that is produced that way focuses on Celestia (Not counting Twilight here, since she one of the main characters anyway) so Luna seems to have the bad luck of getting sidelined by her sister in the pred department.
Maybe I'll do a Luna story one day if I come up with a good theme/setup.

I've always wondered why changelings wouldn't just keep the pony as their personal battery-- to take the metaphor of a flashlight (or fleshlite *snerk*) way too literal.

Thought having to haul around a big belly might get a bit annoying, so just churning them up and claiming your fill of nutrients that way is less bothersome. It not like the ponies are going to run out anytime soon. (that would probably take a long term effort)
The love battery would be an idea for a more endo-focussed story, though.

I know it's been done before, although it was Chrysalis and Twilight so it wouldn't such a chore to abscond with the book horse-- although the reasoning behind that was a hostage situation in that Celestia would be hesitant to blast Chrysalis while Twilight would also be harmed. And another trope (I hesitate to call it that since there was maybe two fics based on it) is the biological armor/living clothing slant; in that case, Chrysalis consumes Celestia and reforms around her as an outer shell, mimicking the Princess to not only leech the love directed at her but also control the biggest threat to her. During that time, she also relates changelings were created in the [very] distant past to work with ponies dealing with some dire threat and then forgotten in the passage of time.

I just pictured Changelings being hallow inside... Like, the only thing they are, is an exoskeletion with some bits that allow them to move right up next to the outsides... And then when they find a prey, or willing pray they kinda open up like a robot, wrap around them and use them as batteries...
Maybe in the past they where living suits of armors pony's would use to fight in battles but over time just became their own race, but even now they can use their own bodies to capture ponies for untament pleasure and food.
I'd say my one problem with this is that the crowd was all nameless ponies, no Twilight or such to respond to their princesses being devoured, and there was no aftermath of ponies submitting after the fact, or showing of what tended to happen in more mundane devourings that had to be dealt with as mentioned.
