King Sombra has been defeated once again. Once Grogar resurrects him the second time, Sombra is forced to be a permanent member of the Legion of Doom. Although Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow do not quite like Sombra, they do what they can to make Sombra a member due to Grogar’s forceful biddings. However, as Sombra starts to know the three villains personally, his perspective starts to somewhat change.
(This is set after “The Beginning of the End” part 2 MLP:FIM Season 9 episode 2)

I like them myself as well. As for the “what if Grogar was real” story, there has been a couple of them I’ve read. Very interesting stories.
The ironic twist is that Sombra basically did more than the rest combined. He basically destroyed the elements, conquered two empires (even temporarily) faked his death, and came back again and in all honesty, if he had known how aquatinted the Mane 6 were to the Elements to the point where they basically are the Elements, he would've won. Also plot armor.
At least he had some morality to keep them alive. But then why not imprison them.... Oh wait he basically has no way to do that... But then what about dark magic...
Well at least we can give Sombra credit for all of that.
And imagine the looks on their faces once they see a potential Alicorn Sombra.

You are absolutely right on what Sombra has done. Except on the part that Sombra spared the Mane Six. I know that some villains have standards when they do things, but I personally don’t believe Sombra should be one of them. If he were smart, he would’ve mind-controlled the Mane Six so they would not resist him. It would just be Discord, Celestia, Luna, and the Pillars. Oh, and the alicorn Sombra part sounds like a very interesting concept. Never thought of that.

The very heroes that literally succeed where the Royal Sisters fail(in terms of protecting Equestria), now mind-controlled and defeated.
The citizens would believe there is no hope now.
The Royal Sisters would see the ponies have lost faith in them. Like the moment they show up and proclaim they would protect the ponies, they will just freak out instead of calming down due to knowing the sisters' track records.
Sombra would have a field day in seeing such true fear without the need of using his fear spell on them.

Sombra and Chrysalis also have another thing in common.
Aside from fear(Chrysalis's line about that in the finale would have made Sombra pop up big time).
They were both ultimately screwed due to Spike.
Spike being there and delivering the Crystal Heart which screwed Sombra's plans up.
And Spike befriending Thorax which ultimately led to the hive reforming.
But sadly both also don't seem to realize that Spike is the one who ultimately foiled them(Chrysalis's case being Spike got robbed big time by the writers using Starlight)
