For centuries, there has been peace between Equestria and the human nation of Deutschland. When Equestria is dragged into a war with the humans, they are met with the full military and industrial power of humans.
(Napoleonic style fighting)
(Slow updates because I'm lazy)
Great to see fellow pony fans who share a love of history. Nice start, it will be interesting to see where it leads.
One note of criticism - I would write full titles for ranks instead of abbreviations. They are by no means standard (e.g. each branch of the modern U.S. armed forces has a different interpretation) and also cause hiccups in the text-to-speech.
Also, love the decision to dress the Equestrian ponies in the Coldstream guards uniform. It fits so well.
Pacing is a bit rushed, you switch between past and present tense a few times, and descriptions are a bit superficial, but the concept is real nice. I personally don't care much for anthro, but I can understand the frustration of trying to rationalize hooves operating firearms.
“nation of Deutschland”
<.<
So... are they all humanoid?
10504185
if you mean by humanoid the ponies are actually human people. no they are the anthro ponies of half human half pony
10504843
That would be humanoid, but thank you for the clarification. Humanoid means that the general shape is the same as a human.
10504895
no problem. always happy to answer any questions
I like that Deautchland soldiers wear Pickelhauben, they're a personal favorite
How is Twilight able to facehoof if ponies are anthro in this universe? Doesn't that mean hooves for legs and hands for arms?
I don’t like how Prussian discipline isn’t practiced by the troopers, but’s it’s your story so your choice if you want it or not
10530902
Oops will fix that

You use text to speed a lot too? Same here I listen to them too while I do art.

Thanks for the input. Will change it
More please
Love the Gettysburg lines here, glad to see I'm not the only one who likes the movie or read the book.

I'm calling them ponies to avoid confusion since there's already cavalry that rides horses. I figured it would sound weird if they rode horses and were also called horses.
10579745
I like that. Calling them the Saddlers. I'll be sure to add that in the future. Thanks
Interesting premise, the POV bugs me a bit so I’m heading off, but good luck! It seems like you have a good baseline
10530890
I was actually figuring it to be that regular infantry wore the uniform on the left or a field cap like in the cover pic, while cavalry wore the pickelhauben.
What is the cover art?

Ah, another history lover.

Idk i just googled Landwehr soldiers
YAY UPDATE
FOR THE FATHERLAND

I know right! This guy finally updated
Es wäre mir eine Ehre, Ihnen Offiziere zur Verfügung zu stellen, Feldmarschall!
(It would be my honor to put officers at your disposal, Field Marshal!)
Firing a Musket six times a minute! Good god man. That's asking way to much for new recruit. Three to four shots would be reachable for many but six? That's nuts.
10797337
The prussian army was actually taught to try and fire 6 times a minute by I believe the soldier king. Naturally it is impossible, but it was so that they can be faster and fire at least one shot more than the enemy.
I would really advise you take a look at this:
It might help you to imagine these battles when the major characters get involved.

Thanks, I'll take a look

You are very welcome. As it's not too often I see anything about this period.
Ponies vs. Humans. One side with magic, the other side with only the most deadly weapons in the multiverse. One side will win and the other will fall.
What is the cover art? I've spent some time studying the Revolutionary/Napoleonic Wars, so this piqued my interest.
11004247
I found it by googling pictures of German landwehr
11004244
Spoilers for future events
Equestria- uses pegasi
Deutschland with its new Gatling Guns- allow us to introduce our new toy.
11004639
Ah. I didn't know if it was a specific battle or campaign.
Looks like war with Equestria is becoming more and more likely.
Interesting concept you have there. Out of curiosity, are you learning Irish? Cuz I'm sure Capall and Chapaillíní are both Irish for horse and pony.
11260581
No I'm American. I just decided to name those two cities that because that's supposed to be the local culture
11260829
I see, that's interesting

"More likely "?
Several civilian ships and a couple of navy ships attacked or sunk, how many have died while they were at peace. The war is here. ZAP FRY THEM WITH THE SUN!
11261002
Well to be fair. The wars only been going on for about a month. The hms friendship was the first civilian transport sunk, as the majority sunk so far were Saddle Arabian. Only about 15-20 ships were actually Equestrian
I am very confused by these choices. I would have imagined, at lest for the equestrians, a lot of magical tech or flat out magic equipment over human tech. I mean I suppose I can get the Saddle Arabians mimicking the humans due to the lack of unicorns, but since they are getting aid mainly from the Equestrians shouldn't they be more reliant on magic as well? Eh, just my 2 cents.

When I was writing I had put that to thought. The way I saw it was that the humans are generally going to have the more advanced tech and science.
The ponies even though they have magic, they will still need weapons, since they can't rely solely on unicorns everywhere, Plus a strain on unicorn stamina. Where the equestrians will excell at is air superiority, due to pegasi and air ships. Also medical healing, being they can just use magic to treat battlefield wounds.
On the human side since they can't uses magic, they have to use science to treat wounds. Meaning recovery is slow however the doctors have a better understanding of what they are doing.
I mean they did warn them to buck off so its not entirely their fault that they sunk a civilian ship that also did not reply that they are a civilian ship
Wait, what? How does a ship sink twice?
11518531
Yes it's just showing the sinking from the Equestrian view
I don't speak a very high amount of German, but you should definitely replace "liebt Vögel" with "Turteltauben". I think, when you put it into a translator, you left a space between "love" and "birds", instead of the one word, "lovebirds". "Liebt" is a verb form.
