Change can be good sometimes.
This is the first hotel transylvania crossover(with anything) I've read. Decently written so far, everyone seems to be keeping in character. The small alteration to the past is believable(thanks to the similarity to Starswirl's mirror) and doesn't change anything cannon we know about either present allowing the story to flow. I think it also helps that there seems to be a clear end(goal) in sight.
I never was a big fan of the Transylvania series but I’ll give a stick a peek anyway
