And so, the tale begins...
Well I'm hooked up to this already.
Looks like Equestria wasn't able to contain the woods like the USSR and the Warsaw Pact did, well they technically didn't slow it down other than burning buildings, livestock, trees, moving people away, shooting infected people, fire bombing the forest with Helicopters and planes and closing roads that lead to the forest. Anyway through blind luck the infection was stopped in 1987.
Haven't read the story yet but I'm guessing that Equestria was il-equipped to handle the situation and the worse scenario happened, I'm guessing 10% of the planet has been infected by the Everfree with the information I'm getting from the front page of this story.
- The Tree[house] of Harmony "could" survive.
- Ponyville is bucked, the Friendship castle might survive, the school will not.
- Canterlot is on a mountain which should slow down the Everfree, but eventually it will snake its way up to the capital through the railway tracks and consume the city, therefore cutting the entire central terminus for all of Equestria's major railways destroying the economy of the state and quickening the collapse of order.
- Pagasi cities will be the safest place in Equestria, but they will need to import some lucky earth ponies/unicorns for food production (their is magic that allows non-flight ponies to walk on clouds or more dangerous spells for flying).
- Airships and other flying inventions (a flying helicopter does exist in the mlp cannon but it was only on the screen for like a second) will likely become the most heavily sought after machines around the planet with factories building them appearing all around the planet, but keeping them airworthy might be a huge problem for inexperienced airship owners.
- Ships are "safer" compared to walking into the forest, but I have no clue of the monstrosities under deep water, the world Navies will likely mine the oceans like their is a world war going on with specific paths free of mines for all cargo ships to travel on with Destroyers depth charging and torpedoing anything that is suspicious on sonar and submarines torpedoing any large biological targets, if they have the 1940s-1980s level of technology then apart from losing dockyards and weapons manufacturing factories the sea longs should be protected, if below that level of technology then controlling the seas will become impossible.
I have no clue how the other nations are doing but its time for me to finally read the story.

Well unicorn Twilight is dead which means that the events after Season 3 never happened which means Equestria is significantly weaker in the "Friendship is magic" front which means Equestria is literally defenseless to everything else that happens after season 4 or would've been if it weren't for the technology level of Equestria being significantly different to cannon which nullifies the events of the show completely with a few minor exceptions.
So from what I was able to gather from Twilight Sparkles last words were...
It would appear to me that what happened was that after the infection started in the Everfree, the Government or Princess Celestia ordered that many of the ponies of Ponyville to stay inside and fortify themselves with the military mobilization force arriving to help the town in a weeks time, they did this in order to prevent a panic and refugee crisis in the area since that would have disrupted everything if it wasn't organised.
During that week Fluttershy received an urgent call from her animal friends to get the buck as far as possible from the woods, she must have warned everyone to leave the town instead of fortifying up their homes, obviously Twilight did not listen to Fluttershy's warning and she was forced to leave without her best friends (maybe some ponies joined her) with only Angel the bunny and Harry the bear and some other animals that luckily escaped the clutches of the Everfree just in time.
It was quite clear that the military wasn't able to reach the town as the forest grew over it, ponies should have tried to escape at this point when it became clear who was winning the battle, instead a unknown number of them stayed in their homes until it was far to late to escape, it seemed that some ponies had radios to maintain communication which friends and recive broadcast from the military.
Now possibly after a few days after the farm was overrun by the Everfree, the Apple Family attempted to drive out of the forest with a company truck from the farm filled with supplies for the road trip, it didn't go well and Applejack apparently survived the crash and must have come in contact with Twilight at some point, maybe she heard the truck and was investigating, only to find her screaming as a creature or thing that killed her family took her as well with Twilight unable to operate her horn, thrus she is traumatised by Applejack's death and haunted by it so much with zero social contact with anypony else in the woods, she finds shelter and decides to end her life...
Okay obviously something way worse happened to Applejack to cause Twilights sudden turn to suicide, we do not even know where Spike went.
I'm sure I'm 70% right with Fluttershy's story.
Damn! I knew it was going to be good, but this is just amazing! I can't wait for more chapters! Keep up the great work!

Ah, the story still lives! The poor mare in the tank, doomed to repeat discovering that she should be dead, but isn't, hopefully she will finally get an end. I wonder if it's the plants and/or mushrooms that are keeping her alive? Well, I have a feeling that our hero won't be able to help her, alas. I hope he eventually gets to go home.
Well, interesting story so far, definitely looking forward to more of this.

A people pushed to the brink of collapse, desperately trying to claw their way through the chokehold Equestria has upon them. Maybe I don't agree completely with what they're willing to do, but they're desperate, angry, and suffocated by the machinations of an uncaring beast. Retribution, while horrifying has become the only option.
This chapter revealed much. And as such I must process it!
Another great chapter, I can't wait for more!

I still somewhat dislike Crimson, though this chapter really swung things around in a way I was not expecting.
The Vusnix, I was expecting, though, or at least I expected the like from them.
