So you guys remember how Starlight has a plant as a “Companion”, per se?
Ok... so, what if, like, in one of these, like, moments when Starlight is talking to Phyllis, Fluttershy walks in!
And we know Fluttershy is kind and all, and she did get Rainbow a pet...
Rainbow had Tank, Rarity had Opal, she had Angel, Applejack had Winona, Pinkie had Gummy, (Twilight and Spike's relationship is debatable, considering Owlowiscious and Peewee,) point is that they all had pets to find comfort in when friends were not around or were busy.
So why can’t Starlight have one?
Tell you what! This is my interpretation of the pet and procedures that Starlight would undergo from Fluttershy to find her (debatably) perfect pet match!
One-shot
A small detail for the sake of the story, Starlight had Phyllis for a long while, keep that in mind.
And edits are still pending...

🎵Now Starlight, my dear, I cannot express my delight! It’s abundantly clea that somewhere out here is a pet that will suit you just right!🎵
starlight already has a pet *points to Phillis siting on her desk* if boulder counts, so does Phillis

Problem is that I didn't have the foresight to consider that line of thought to the fullest, resulting in this quick story.
Then again, the difference between a companion and a pet is a fine line thats usually decided by opinions (one that I dare not tread over).
Edit: spelling.
As everyone reading this should know, "throw everything she’s got and wait until something sticks" is apparently her normal procedure for helping somepony choose a pet, even if they're looking for something specific and have a logical reason for it.
