Prologue

It's a beautiful sunny day in Ponyville, and everypony was going about their lives. There was talking and the birds chirping in the sky during the perfect time of the summer season in the town. Inside the Castle of Friendship, the little purple dragon, that was no other than Spike, was sleeping in his bed in his bedroom. He was in his deep sleep, until his alarm clock began to go off, which made Spike wake up and turns it off. The little dragon started to yawn and stretch his wings. As he gets out of his bed, Spike walks to his window and sees how sunny it is in the town.

"Wow. I never expected this to be bright out," Spike said.

Suddenly, he hears a familiar voice coming from the other room.

"Spike! Breakfast is ready!"

When Spike heard the voice, it was an alicorn princess Twilight Sparkle who was calling out the little dragon's name. Then, he looked at his clock, and it was 8:30 in the morning. Spike realized he got up late and started to freak out.

"Oh my gosh! I'm late! I'm coming, Twilight!" Spike said as he exited his room.

Then, he runs in the halls to go to the dining room to find Twilight. Once he got there, he sees the alicorn princess serving pancakes for her four friends, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy. Then, Twilight turned to Spike in a friendly manner.

"Good morning, Spike."

"Morning, Twilight. Morning all of you, guys," he replied.

“Good morning, Spike!” the four ponies said in unison.

"Sorry I got up late. Maybe I overslept or something,” the little dragon said.

“That’s okay, Spike,” Twilight giggled. “Every time I make breakfast in the morning, I always spend an hour or two making it for my friends while you were asleep.”

“She’s got a point, sugarcube. Twilight makes the best pancakes in all of Ponyville,” Applejack told Spike.

“Yeah! Those pancakes are absolutely delicious!” Pinkie said as she stuffed her mouth into her pancakes.

“I might say, those were good. I’m not into eating pancakes, but these were delicious,” Fluttershy said in a happier tone.

“Yeah, those pancakes were 100% cooler than the ones in Cloudsdale,” Rainbow Dash said.

“Well, I’m glad you all enjoyed eating these pancakes, but I think I’m gonna pass. Now if you excuse me, I need to help Twilight to get the students prepared for the next semester in the School of Friendship for the fall. So, I’ll catch up with you guys later,” Spike said.

“Hey, wait!” Twilight said as she stopped the little dragon. “If you get to work without eating breakfast, you’ll starve. Please, just have some quality time with us and we can go to work, okay?”

Spike was doubtful about what Twilight was saying, but he let out the sigh and nodded his head in agreement.

“Alright, Twilight.”

Soon after, the five ponies were eating pancakes, except for Spike because he was feeling a little depressed. The only thing he had on his mind was the whole fiasco with Rarity and Gabby a week ago. Even Twilight noticed right away.

“What’s wrong, Spike?” She asked him concernedly.

“Nothing, Twilight,” the little dragon said sadly. “It’s just that incident I had with Rarity not too long ago. I just wished this whole thing never happened. If only I never lied to Gabby in the first place.”

Twilight feels bad for Spike about his situation with Rarity, but she puts her wing around the little dragon.

“I know it’s hard for you to recover from what’s happened, but sometimes every pony makes mistakes and so did we,” Twilight said as her friends nodded in agreement. “I know that Rarity can act a little crazy at times, but deep down, she still cares about you no matter what.”

“Really? You really mean that?” Spike said.

“Absolutely,” Twilight replied.

With the smile on Spike’s face, he embraced Twilight into a hug.

“Thank you for giving me good advice, Twilight,” said the little dragon. "Even though I had a crush on Rarity for a period of time, I’m still on good terms with her, and so is Gabby, too.”

“Aww, Spike…” Twilight giggled at the little dragon’s words as she patted his head. They hugged once again until the door started knocking.

“Hmm… I wonder who it is,” Spike pondered.

“I’ll get it,” Twilight said as she approached the door.

When the alicorn princess opened the door, it was no other than Rarity. Twilight was surprised to see her.

“Good morning, Rarity,” the princess greeted her.

“Morning, darling,” Rarity replied back. “Is Spike here? I have something important for him to ask. Do you know where he is?”

“Oh, we’re just having pancakes with him,” Twilight giggled. “You want some?”

“Oh, I would love to, Twilight, but I’ve already eaten breakfast,” replied Rarity. “Do you know where I can find Spike?”

“He’s over there sitting next to Applejack,” Twilight told Rarity.

“Thanks, Twi,” she said.

Spike was in the middle of eating his pancakes until Rarity called out his name.

“Oh, Spikey-Wikey!” Rarity said in a singly tone.

“Rarity?” Spike recognized her. As he turned around, he was so excited to see her.

“Rarity, hi!” Spike said happily as he embraced her into a hug.

“Hey there, Spike!” She waved at the little dragon. “How is my favorite little dragon doing?”

“Never been better, Rarity,” Spike replied. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh, I just stopped by to ask you something,” Rarity said.

“Oh, okay,” said Spike. “What is it that you want to ask me? Is there something you want to do today?”

“Umm… Let me think for a second, darling,” Rarity told the little dragon.

Rarity started to think about what she is gonna do today. Then, something came to her mind.

“Oh, yes. I was going to say that I’m going to spend two days at the beach at Maretropolis.”

After hearing her sentence, Spike was surprised about what he heard from Rarity.

“Wow,” the little dragon said. You’re spending two days at the beach? That’s great! What’s there?”

“Oh my, darling,” Rarity said. “Maretropolis has everything. The hula dancing, the smoothies, the scenery, and obviously the ocean.”

The four ponies and Spike sound pretty amazed when they heard about Maretropolis.

“Oh, my gosh! They have hula at Maretropolis?! THIS IS SO EXCITING! WHOO!” Pinkie said with enthusiasm.

“They have smoothies there, too?! Awesome!” Rainbow and Applejack said in unison.

“Um, I don’t know about the ocean and all, but I am sure there are pretty cute creatures under the sea,” Fluttershy said happily.

“That sounds like… a perfect place to go for a vacation!” Spike said excitedly.

“Oh, believe me, darling. It really is!” Rarity replied. “I bet I am going to have the time of my life there. But what about you, Spike? Do you want to come with me to stay at the beach for two days?”

When she asked the little dragon about her offer, he started to think for a second. After a few seconds, Spike was ready to accept Rarity’s offer with full confidence.

“Yes, I do,” he said.

“Wonderful, darling!” Rarity said happily. “Now, let’s hit the summer fun!”

As she was ready to leave the castle to pack up her stuff at the Carousel Boutique, Spike stopped Rarity in her tracks.

“Hey, wait a minute!"

“What’s the matter, Spikey?” She asked the little dragon.

“There’s something I forgot to tell you about the ocean. What if it was as dangerous as I thought? What if the sea creatures are not friendly? What if the giant squid comes out and tries to eat us?!” Spike said fearfully.

The four ponies were shocked by what Spike had said.

“WHAT?! THERE'S A SQUID IN THE OCEAN?!” Pinkie shouted.

“I hope I won’t ever tell this to Apple Bloom when I go back to the farm…” Applejack said nervously.

“Okay, I take it back about the ocean. It does sound scary!” Rainbow said.

"Oh, my goodness. I hope I don’t get nightmares from this…” Fluttershy said fearfully.

The four ponies were shivering in fear and so was Spike. As Rarity and Twilight are concerned for her friends and the little dragon, they manage to calm them down.

“Now, now, ladies. Calm down,” Rarity told them as they stopped panicking. “I am sure the ocean is not as dangerous as it seems. You all just never seen what it looks like yet.”

Then, Rarity walks to Spike while Twilight tries to calm him down. He looked scared even more after what he said.

“Rarity, I’m so scared. I don’t wanna be eaten by that squid.”

“Shh… it’s okay, Spike,” Rarity said as she comforted the little dragon. “As long as you are with me, I’ll never let anything bad happen to you. Trust me.”

Spike was feeling doubtful about what Rarity had said, but then he nodded in agreement.

“Okay.”

Rarity and Spike embraced a hug. They hugged for over a minute until out of nowhere, a draconequus who is no other than the Lord of Chaos himself, Discord appeared in the flash of the light.

“HUZZAH, MY FRIENDS!” he shouted with enthusiasm as he was wearing his hula form. “I am more than happy to come along with you two! Is there something fascinating about what the ocean looks like? Are there many sea creatures under the sea? Oh, I have so many questions!”

As excited Discord was, Twilight was not amused by his antics. She clears her throat to get the Lord of Chaos’s attention.

“Ahem!”

“Yes, Twilight?” Discord said to her.

“Can I have a word with you for a minute?” Twilight said sternly.

With a sigh coming out of Discord’s mouth, he removes his hula form from his body.

“Okay, Twilight,” he said with disappointment.

Later in the library, the alicorn princess and the Lord of Chaos were having a private conversation about his involvement of going to Maretropolis with Rarity and Spike.

“You do realize this is Rarity’s vacation, right?” Twilight said with a stern tone.

“Yes, Twilight,” Discord replied. “I understand what you’re saying, but I just want to be part of it. I just hope Fluttershy knows that already.”

“If you want to spend your time at the beach with Rarity and Spike, I’m going to ask you this once,” said the princess. “I want to make sure you don’t ever, ever cause any chaos at the beach, but promise me from the bottom of my heart you’ll keep Spike safe.”

“So, you’re promising me that I need to be aware of Spike’s safety at the beach as a whole?” Discord said.

“Yes,” Twilight replied sternly. “And when I promise you something very important, you don't break that promise.”

Discord had no idea what she was saying as he raised his eyebrow.

“Ever,” Twilight finished her sentence.

After all the information she had said, the draconequus let out a sigh and spoke.

“Alright, Twilight. I’ll try my best not to cause too much trouble at the beach and keep Spike safe under any circumstances."

"Good. Then it’s settled,” Twilight said with confidence.

The Lord of Chaos smiled at the alicorn princess and shook her hoof, calling it a truce.

Back in the dining room, the five ponies and Spike waited for Discord and Twilight to get back from the library.

“Gee… What’s taking him so long? He should’ve been back by now,” Spike said.

“Patience, darling,” Rarity said to the little dragon. “I’m sure this conversation between Discord and Twilight won’t be much longer.”

"Yeah, I know," he replied. "I'm just hoping he won't cause too much trouble at the beach."

"It'll be fine, Spike," Rarity told him. "I am sure I got under control."

Spike was a bit skeptical of her words, but he understood what she was saying and nodded his head in agreement.

"You're right," the young dragon said. "Thanks."

"No problem, darling," Rarity replied.

Then, the Lord of Chaos and the alicorn princess came out of the library after a long conversation they had. Even Rarity and Spike were surprised to see them.

“Twilight? Discord? What took you guys so long?” Spike said.

“You know, kid, there were some arguments, but other than that, we got it under control,” Discord replied to the little dragon. “As a quick reminder, Twilight had ordered me to keep aware of your safety at the beach. I want to make sure you won’t get hurt.”

“I know, Discord,” Spike replied to the Lord of Chaos. “I just hope I won’t be eaten by that giant squid.”

“Don’t worry, little one,” the draconequus said. “I will make sure that Rarity is here to keep you safe.”

“Thank you, Discord,” Spike said with a smile on his face. And Discord smiled at the little dragon back. Then, Twilight was talking to Rarity.

“Well, we got it all planned,” the alicorn princess said. “Discord will go to the beach with you and Spike for two days, but you have to make sure he doesn’t cause any trouble there.”

“My pleasure, darling,” Rarity replied. “As long as the crazy draconequus won’t cause too much chaos at Maretropolis.”

“Okay, Rarity. Go easy on me,” Discord said as Rarity gave him a glare.

“Alrighty then. Since this conversation is over, there’s one more thing I need to ask, Rarity,” said Spike.

“What is it, Spike?” she replied

The little dragon started to think for a moment, but then, something came crossing to his mind.

“Okay, I know it’s going to sound crazy, but do you think Gabby can come with us to Maretropolis?”

When Rarity thought about the female griffon, she became a little skeptical, despite making amends with Gabby a week ago. But then, she decided to shake it off.

"Okay, Spike. If you want Gabby to come with us, I want to make sure that she won't borrow you this time. And then, I will be nicer to her from here on out."

"Alright. Guess that's settled," Spike agreed.

"I hate to bust your conversation, but we got to go!" Discord said as he looked at his watch.

"Discord's right," said Spike. "But first, we have to get tickets for Griffonstone to pick up Gabby and one for Maretropolis."

"You got it, kid. Let's pack up our bags and hit the summer fun!" Discord said as he was wearing his hula form again.

Rarity and Spike were amused by his antics. Then, she and Discord went back to their homes to pack up all their stuff for the beach. Just as before Spike can go back to his room to pack up his stuff, he starts to feel something's not right.

"I hope this doesn't go off the rails like last time..." Spike said nervously.
